Here's an overview of what we will be doing this week in class:

Hamlet

That was easy . . .

But seriously, we will commit almost the entire week to Hamlet, as we try to make some serious progress on our reading and discussion of the play. We are starting act III on Monday and will finally read the much-anticipated "To be or not to be . . ." soliloquy. Students will complete an independent annotation of it to turn in. We will also watch four different actors' and directors' interpretations of this most famous scene.

The one non-Hamlet activity we will complete this week will involve a search for relevant and interesting literary criticism/commentary related to your literature circles novels. After reading this, you will write a précis--a formal summary and analysis of the article. I'll have more details for you on Wednesday.

Here are a couple of reminders:

    • Human narratives should be submitted to www.turnitin.com by midnight on Tuesday, November 3. If you don't receive a receipt, your paper isn't submitted. If TurnItIn fails to work, send your paper via email (michael.woodall@cobbk12.org) or share it with me via Google Docs. Please make every effort to get it to me electronically and on time.

    • If you were absent and did not turn in your final literature circles role sheet, please do so on Monday. See me if this presents a problem.
