American Lit. for January 11-13

Post date: Jan 10, 2017 10:24:49 PM

I kind of like this easing back into things with a two-day week, followed by a three-day week and then four days next week before we really hit our stride. But anyway . . .

Here's what to expect during this abbreviated week:

On Wednesday we will finish up the article entitled "An Open Letter to Texting-Crazed Teens," focusing on how its authors develop a variety of tones within the one piece of writing. I'll also ask you to write a brief comparison of it and the satirical I-phone article.

We will also complete a diagnostic test to see where we are on certain reading and language skills. We'll most likely do this on Thursday. We will also introduce the idea of The American Dream, as we do some writing, listening, viewing, and thinking in relation to different aspects of this concept. This should take us through the end of the week.

Looking ahead, our first major unit will focus on various American short stories, and we will start it next week.
