EOC This Week: Writing Reminders

Post date: Apr 30, 2017 12:28:33 AM

It's finally here: Our American Literature Milestones EOC. We will be testing three days this week, Monday through Wednesday. Please be present and on time. And remember that you MAY NOT have a phone on your person or near you during testing.

Here are a few reminders for Monday's written part of the EOC:

    • Be sure to use textual evidence--direct quotations from the texts you are given--in both topics.

    • For the question that asked you to ask which article is more effective in its content and style, look for differences you can emphasize to show how one is better than the other.

    • Be sure you understand whether you are arguing in support of a claim or writing an informative essay that gives a quick overview of a topic for the extended response question. The directions should make that obvious to you.

    • For the extended response question, be sure to organize your writing into several paragraphs--not just one big one.

    • Be sure to use information/examples from BOTH articles in both questions in Monday's portion of the EOC.

    • Try to leave yourself time to proofread for spelling and other grammar issues.
