Crucible Act I & II Assessment Friday

The following terms appear in questions on Friday’s assessment over The Crucible. You do not need to define them on the test, but you do need to be able to identify examples and their effects when you see them in an excerpt from the text of The Crucible or know how to respond when one of these terms appears in a test question.

Irony (dramatic, verbal, situational)

Simile

Allusion

Metaphor

Personification

Tone

Hyperbole

Foreshadowing

Conflict (internal and external)

Assessment Format:

· 15 passage-based multiple choice questions

· 3 out of 5 short answer questions (similar to review questions completed after both acts of the play)

· One constructed response question based on two passages from The Crucible
