American Literature--The End

All we really have left to do is finish reading, discussing, and viewing The Great Gatsby on Monday and then take our test over Gatsby on Wednesday morning. I've attached the completed questions for the whole book to this document. There will also be a few comma items, similar to what we worked on from Grammar Bytes last week. And here are the comma rules we emphasized in class:

Comma Rules

1) When the dependent clause is at the start of the sentence, it should be followed by a comma.

2) Words of attribution (says, suggests, orders, etc.) are normally followed by a comma when used with a direct quote.

3) Introductory adverbs are normally followed by a comma.

4) When you directly address someone, set the name off with a comma.

5) Nonessential information is set off with commas.

6) Introductory elements like infinitive phrases, prepositional phrases, etc. are set off with commas.

7) Place a comma before a coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS) when joining two independent clauses.
