Here's a quick overview of the coming week:

***Wednesday is picture day. We will have our pictures taken during class each period.***

Vocabulary: We will continue our vocabulary study this week, following our usual schedule and introducing unit 3 from The Sadlier-Oxford Vocabulary book. Please follow the schedule below for homework this week:

Monday--Choosing the right word

Tuesday--Synonyms and Antonyms

Wednesday--Choosing the Right Word

Thursday--Prepare for Friday's Vocabulary Assessment. We will have an alternative to our usual quiz in class on Friday. I'll tell you more about it in class.

Literature & Writing:

On Monday we will tie up various loose ends related to the Anglo-Saxons, discussing a few of the activities from the Anglo-Saxon/Beowulf stations.

On Tuesday we will have our test over the Anglo-Saxons and Beowulf. See a previous post on this page for details about our test.

On Wednesday you should bring a draft (intro, body & conclusion) of your Beowulf essay to class for peer editing. Details about this essay are in an earlier post on this page. The revision of your essay is due to www.turnitin.com by midnight on Sunday, August 28. We'll discuss how to use TurnItIn later this week.

As we shift gears to our next unit on the Middle Ages and its literature, we will start by completing research for some brief presentations about various topics related to the medieval era in England.

I'll also be assigning an article about 1066 and the events surrounding the Norman conquest of Anglo-Saxon England. I've attached the handout for that here because it has links in it that you will need for part of the assignment, but I'll give you the article itself in class.
