Here's a quick overview of the coming week:

Vocabulary:

    • We will start our first unit in the Sadlier-Oxford Vocabulary Workshop books this week, so please be sure to either buy one or check one out from me. Books cost $12.00 if you are purchasing one.

    • We will establish a routine with vocabulary this week that we will follow for the next few weeks:

-On Monday we will introduce the new words for the week, and I will ask you to complete "Choosing the Right Word" for this week's unit. We will check for completion of this and go over correct answers on Tuesday.

-On Tuesday, you should complete "Synonyms and Antonyms" for the week's unit.

-On Wednesday, you should complete "Completing the Sentence."

-On Thursday, you should study as needed for the weekly vocabulary quiz to be given on Friday.

Literature:

On Monday, we will finish up our work with Native American poetry by writing a brief essay that incorporates textual evidence from the poems we read and analyzed Friday.

We will also complete a timeline of major events from American history, putting them in perspective before delving into literature from early in the country's history: An excerpt from The New England Primer.

Much of our time on Wednesday through Friday will be spent preparing presentations on various topics related to the New England Puritans. We will present these next Tuesday or Wednesday, before starting our reading of The Crucible.
