American Lit. for Feb. 29-March 4

Post date: Feb 29, 2016 2:55:11 AM

Here's an overview of the coming week:

Vocabulary: We will continue our break from vocabulary for the next couple of weeks.

D.E.A.R. Instead of vocabulary, we will drop everything and read at the start of class each day as students read their independently selected novels. Please be sure to complete your reading log daily and to keep your eyes open for "Notice and Note Signposts" as you read, marking them on your reading log.

Argumentative Literature: We will continue to look at argument and rhetoric, focusing on how writers and speakers use a variety of methods to get their point across effectively. We will wrap up our discussion of Patrick Henry's "Give me liberty or give me death" speech before moving on to analysis of The Declaration of Independence and Benjamin Banneker's letter to Thomas Jefferson.
