American Lit. for Sept. 14-18

Post date: Sep 14, 2015 12:59:20 AM

Here is what to expect this week in class:

    • We will be taking a break from vocabulary for at least the next two weeks of school, so there is no vocabulary homework and no assessment or quiz this week.

    • Taking the place of vocabulary for the next few weeks, will be DEAR time--Drop Everything and Read. Our media specialists will visit class this Monday and provide us with a variety of books to check out based on student interests as indicated by the survey our classes took a few weeks ago.

    • We will start each day with DEAR time, and students will complete a daily reading log with a brief summary and notes on "Notice and Note Signposts" they ran across in their reading. I'll explain this more fully in class Monday. I've attached several relevant handouts below.

    • We had our assessment over The Crucible last Friday, and will finish up our work with the play this week as students write a character analysis essay about a character of their choice from The Crucible. We will work on this throughout the week, and students will also complete an extension activity related to the Salem witch trials and The Crucible. I am attaching related handouts below.

***If you missed the test over The Crucible on Friday, you should make it up early this week.***

Please remember (How could you forget?) that fall break is next week, September 21-25.
