Crucible Acts 3 & 4 Assessment Tuesday

Post date: Mar 05, 2017 4:19:11 PM

As we wrap up The Crucible, we will have our assessment over the last two actos of the play on Tuesday, March 7. Here's what to expect:

    • The format of the test is very similar to what you did for acts one and two.

    • There are 15 multiple choice questions. Eleven of them are passage-based, and you will identify the nature of characters and their tone based on what you read, as well as techniques used by the author and the effects or impacts created by the use of those techniques.

    • Four questions state a theme of the play and ask you to identify which character's experience or attitude best illustrates that theme.

    • There are five short answer questions to respond to; you will pick two to answer.

    • There is a longer constructed response question, asking you to describe any character in the play and to prove that your claim about him or her is correct with textual evidence from the play.

    • These are the literary terms/techniques you need to feel comfortable with as you answer questions about the text. You won't be defining them, but you do need to know what they are and understand the effects they create for the reader:

theme

characterization

tone

dynamic vs. static character

personification

allusion

metaphor

simile

hyperbole

  • Our review questions for each act are in a previous post on this page.
