MANILA TO HOST
MISS UNIVERSE ANEW!
(CANDIDATES TO VISIT BICOL, GENSAN)
TO-BE SEEN IN THE CITY:
(MANILA, PHILIPPINES) - Manila to host Miss Universe AGAIN THIS YEAR! This one will be for the books, if plans do not miscarry. Yes, outside of the US and its territories (Puerto Rico hosted in 2001 and 2002), Philippines is the ONLY country that will have hosted MissU back-to-back!
According to a very reliable source with access to the secret corridors of the Philippine Department of Tourism Office in Manila, this joyous information for the pageant fanatics was announced by Secretary Wanda Tulfo-Teo today, Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 6:00PM.
Even if no exact date was pinned down yet, the Tourism Secretary mentioned in the meeting that the next Miss Universe candidates will visit scenic places that were not covered early this year, namely, Bicol, General Santos, among others.
In January this year, the 65th Miss Universe candidates were billeted at the Conrad Hotel, just a stone’s throw away from one of the main sponsors, The Okada Casino (where a post-pageant victory party was held). Pageant ancillary events were held almost left and right around Boracay (Shangri-La Resort and Spa), Cebu (JPark Island Resort and Waterpark), Davao (Eden Nature Park & SM Lanang Convention Center), Batangas (Pico de Loro), among others places. Hundreds of production staff and crew were flown in to Manila to join and work with the candidates in rehearsals and coronation night.
By the time the most prestigious pageant in the world, err, the Universe rather culminated in a fitting climax last January 30, 2017 at the Mall of Asia Arena, costs pilled up to $16 Million ($3 Million over than the original budget). Not a single centavo from the government coffers was spent as major sponsors footed the bill.
Miss Universe Organization staff and crew were vocally very happy about the handling of the event, enough to sash Chavit Singson the ‘Mr Universe’ title during the post-event media conference. Although, it was heavily talked about that the event was canceled four (4) different times and was ‘saved’ four times by LCS Group’s CEO Chavit Singson and his team. So, anything can happen again between today and the forthcoming days!
