Hollywood A-lister Leonardo Di Caprio, hottest talk of the town these days for claiming every Best Actor award out there this season (SAG, Globes, etc), is also expected to cinch the most-coveted Oscars this Sunday for his riveting portrayal of a resurrected father in 'The Revenant.' Talks are loud also that he will be in Manila next year to travel and receive a very prestigious Nobel Peace prize type international award for his very vocal views matched by exemplary works in 'save the environment' campaigns.
The 8-hour long Philippine entry “Hele Sa Hiwagang Hapis” (A Lullaby for the Sorrowful Mystery), wins the Silver Bear Alfred Bauer Prize in the 66th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) this year, in memory of the festival head, “for opening new perspectives on cinematic art.” The Lav Diaz-megged film about the countryside living during the Marcos era, stars John Lloyd Cruz, Piolo Pascual, Cherie Gil, Angel Aquino, Alessandra De Rossi, Susan Africa, Bernardo Bernardo, among others. Lewis Tecson, owner of Bytes and Notes Music Studio, in San Jose, CA, celebrated his 50th Birthday at Disneyland Resorts in Anaheim, CA. Lewis was joined by his charming wife, Ann Marie, 3 talented sons (Lance, Liam and Lucas) and eldest sister, "Mama Tora". The Tecsons were in Disneyland to watch the performance of their sons with the Archbishop Mitty Concert Choir. This golden celebration at the Happiest Place on Earth was also joined by Bytes and Notes students and families of Reguindins, Bagis, Lazaros, Cayabyabs, Vicencios and Youngs. (ANAHEIM, CA) Center Stage Performing Arts, based in Milpitas, CA, presented BROADWAY REVUE, with song selections from a variety of Broadway's most beloved and popular musicals at Disneyland Theme Park on Valentine’s Day. This song and dance experience featured a number of classics from A Chorus Line, Rent, Hairspray and more. Performers include Gabriel Young, Michael Young, Franchesca Lazaro, Janessa Cayabyab, Drew Huynh, Isaiah Saluta, Cameron Bradford, Julia Peccin, Anevay Millich, Kylie Cole, Amanda Teano, Cheyanna Jimenez, Savannah Polanco and Fenina Suarez.
Speaking to ‘Scenes In The City’ right after the Center Stage Performing Arts performance, Director MEI-WAN CHAI says “I am so glad the kids performed here at Disneyland, the happiest place on earth during Valentine’s Day, the happiest day for couples, as they will long remember this moment even during their golden years! It’s a major boost to their confidence level. It’s an awesome feeling! I just hope that more people will support kids and watch their next performances in the Bay Area.”
