SEEN IN THE CITY

It’s all about Jessica Sanchez these days. As the American Idol Season 11 Grand Finale reaches fever pitch madness with the Top 2 Idols’ final performances scheduled on Tuesday, May 22 and the announcement of the NEW American Idol Winner on Wednesday, May 23, both scheduled at the Nokia Theater LA LIVE, all the major TV networks from the Philippines (TV5, TFC & GMA-7) flew in Manila-based TV crews to cover her final week performances & activities. Interscope, that huge record label wanted her badly. Jessica goes on AI record books as the youngest candidate ever to reach Top 2. Her YouTube AI performance videos are the most watched with no other singer coming second close.

Her success did not come easy. She has been singing since age 2. She has been joining, winning & losing singing contests. Her mom does not have a job mainly because her singing is already a full-time job for her. We saw her drive to win early on in the competition when she battled all the more beautiful, taller and Hollywood-ready contestants. This is definitely now her moment.

Manila Mail will be there front and center to cover the final 2 days of the most successful singing competition for the last 11 seasons. We will interview Vicky Belo and her staff, flying in exclusively to witness firsthand the making of history. We will also interview Manny Pacquiao who as of this writing, is still planning to attend the AI finals as he said on TV (he even proclaimed Jessica Sanchez as the winner about a month ago). We will also pick the brains behind the producers of American Idol – Fremantle Media.

After GMA Films’ “The Road” success (it was Top 6 in the best-selling horror films in iTunes as of last week), this will be the next big thing in Philippine entertainment, if not the biggest yet.

This Column firmly believe that Jessica Sanchez will cinch that AI crown come Wednesday, BUT, it will all depend on how firmly we believe in her – by how committed are we to voting for her on Tuesday night, non-stop for 4 hours!

Be a part of history. VOTE FOR JESSICA SANCHEZ!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

“The presence of God is more important than my presence.” – by Bible-reading, Bible-preaching, Bible-quoting Manny Pacquiao to LA’s Ami Almerol at the Wild Card Gym when he was being pressured to attend last week’s American Idol LIVE show. The Champ didn’t want to interrupt his boxing training and skipped the AI show. After hearing this, Ami sat down and clearly accepted defeat. Pacquiao already proclaimed Fil-Mex Jessica Sanchez as the AI winner, about a month ago.
