ABS-CBN International's Starry Starry Store kicks off 2010 with the U.S. theatrical of "I Love You, Goodbye" in San FRANCISCO on January 1-7 at the UA Stonestown Theater.

Just last Sunday, Charice delivered a "jaw-dropping" performance on “Singapore Idol” that earned her another standing ovation from hundreds of people at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. Also last Sunday, I also saw her Disney movie 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' where she sang 'No One' by Alicica Keys. She will be seen next month on Oprah again to promote her global CD. A farewell dinner was hosted by Art Dancel, president of De La Salle Alumni Association of Northern California (DLSAANC) for Ramon del Rosario who is retiring in the Philippines after having lived in California for 41 years. Ramon del Rosario is a four term past president of DLSAANC. He worked for Bechtel Corporation and Jacobs Engineering Group and attained the highest level of success as VP in the Engineering/Construction Industry.

One Kapamilya Go's two very successful auditionees at the Santa Clara Great America Theme Park last September are San Diego's HermesBautista, left and Arizona's Tom Mott, right. Hermes is still fighting it out inside the 'Bahay Ni Kuya' and is now a household name in the Philippines, while Tom is now a Bench endorser, replacing Sam Milby and will be shooting his first movie opposite Anne Curtis (interestingly, Sam Milby's former girlfriend on and offscreen).

Starry Starry Store Kicks Off 2010 With Its First US Theatrical Release starring Gabby, Angelica, Derek and Kim; film to screen in 7 U.S. cities this January

ABS-CBN International’s Starry Starry Store starts the New Year with a roar in the Year of the Tiger by bringing to the U.S. Star Cinema’s official entry to the 35th Metro Manila Film Festival. Screening in the first two weeks of January 2010 is I Love You, Goodbye in San Francisco , Los Angeles-Cerritos, San Diego , Las Vegas , Jersey City ,Honolulu and Seattle .

I Love You, Goodbye is the comeback film after a five-year absence of the much acclaimed director, Laurice Guillen, the genius behind Filipino cinema classics like Kasal, Salome, Init sa Magdamag, Santa-Santita and Tanging Yaman. She was tapped by Star Cinema to go against the usual comedic favorites at the annual Metro Manila Film Festival with a stirring drama and complex love story starring what is probably the current best mix of RP’s most interesting stars.

Gabby Concepcion, who is presently enjoying TV success with the top-rating Dahil May Isang Ikaw, returns to the big screen after over a decade of absence. Angelica Panganiban has been wowing critics and audiences alike with her smooth transformation from an award-winning child star to sexy and versatile leading lady status on TV and in film. Former MTV VJ and model Derek Ramsay is riding the heels of the domestic and international success of And I Love You So and his well-received appearances on TV dramas. People are keeping an eye on Kim Chiu as the country’s top female teenage star ditches her sweet image and unleashes her dark side for the role of a rebellious daughter in I Love You, Goodbye.

Gabby is Dr. Adrian Benitez, who, after divorce, finds new love in Angelica’s character, Lizelle Jimenez. Lizelle loves Adrian but feels like a stranger in his high society world, especially with Adrian ’s rebellious teenage daughter, Ysa (played by Kim), making sure Lizelle doesn’t feel part of the family. To make matters worse for Lizelle, she falls for photographer Gary Angeles (Derek) who is dating Ysa. Lizelle is caught in a tangle of secrets, truths and lies but she has to make a choice between the two men she loves and face the consequences of that choice.

“The year 2009, which coincided with TFC’s 15th and Star Cinema’s 16th anniversaries, was a blockbuster year for Starry Starry Store,” said Kerwin Du, ABS-CBN International’s Head of Theatricals. “All our premieres were sold out and our regular theatricals had very encouraging returns. We hope to continue this winning streak for the New Year. I believe we’re off to the right start with I Love You, Goodbye which has quality film entertainment written all over it. Charice In Disney’s ‘ Alvin & the Chipmunks’

The last Christmas week has been quite busy – a Detroit-bound plane almost exploded mid-air due to a terrorist attack, fortunately foiled in time; the Pacquiao-Mayweather May 13^th fight has been called off (as of presstime, both camps are still talking, though) by Pacquiao’s promoter, Bob Arum due to humiliating blood testing demands of the opponent camp; Pacquiao decided to file a lawsuit against Mayweather for performance-enching drugs use allegations; and then there is, Charice.

Charice was the sole reason I went to the theaters this weekend to watch Disney’s latest Christmas offering – “ Alvin & the Chipmunks” and to say the least, I was not disappointed. The movie not only is highly entertaining, but is pridefully joyful to every Filipino moviewatcher.

She appeared as herself, singing her cover version of Alicia Keys’ ‘No One’. She even appeared in the movie’s happy ending, together with the Chipmunks.

If you need a breath of fresh holiday air for a change, you should watch the holiday movie yourself, bring the whole family and be proud of Charice.

Manny Villar, Krista Seen In LA; Tom is Bench’s Newest

Reports reaching this column have it that very strong Presidential bet, Manny Villar, his wife Cynthia and the rest of their family are vacationing this holiday season and were seen in the Glendale , CA area in Southern California .

The very controversial Ranillo, Krista, was spotted and photographed arriving at the Los Angeles Airport on Christmas eve, with a puppy in tow.

US-based Pinoy Big Brother Double-Up ex-housemate who auditioned only last September in Santa Clara’s CA Great America Park during the ‘One Kapamilya Go’ event, Tom Mott (now known in the Philippines as Tom Rodriguez) recently shared us the very good news – he was chosen to be the newest BENCH model (replacing Sam Milby who moved on and signed with Folded and Hung). We expect to see his giant billboards, posters and spreads not only in the Bench stores in the Philippines but also here at Serramonte Mall in South San Francisco , the Glendale Galleria in Southern California and their other stores in the US .

After his appearances in ASAP09, The Buzz, Previous Hearts, Entertainment Live, PBBDU Uber, he is also buffing up and preparing for his first yet-untitled movie opposite Anne Curtis.

Finally, this young man’s hard work and perseverance is paying off. Congrats & good luck, Tom!

Quote of the Week – “I am so delighted that he’s standing up outside the ring like a man just like he does in the ring.” Boxing’s and Pacquaio’s Mega-Promoter Bob Arum’s personal reaction to Pacquiao’s refusal to dignify the statements made by Mayweather camp and give them the publicity and attention they were looking for in regards to their baseless and false accusations that Pacquiao has been using performance-enhancing drugs. Pacquiao has instructed Arum to sue Mayweather and his camp. As of press time, their March 13^th fight has been called off by Arum.
