(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) – He is in town, fresh from a lengthy vacation in Manhattan, NY and he is scouting for talents – award winning Concert Producer Jonathan Ling V. Aligada. I already met him several times before in his offices in Manila, in the events that he produced and/or supervised in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and other cities. He took a short break from the corporate world to spend quality time with family and friends all over the US.

Jonathan arrived in the appointment way early (he was never late, ever, in my recollection with our prior meetings), and as he sits in front of me in a coffee shop late night in San Ramon, CA for an in person interview, I gauged that his demeanor and cheerful attitude on everything around him hasn’t changed a bit. He greeted me with a warm hug and infectious smile the second he saw me. He coyly orders his latte and jokes with the barista as if they shared moments together in a previous life. He chooses a table location that will be conducive for the both of us with ample light and space. He smiles indiscriminately at incoming customers. Little things mean alot, I have learned this far in life. And my verdict: success hasn’t changed a bit, this UP Diliman Cum Laude Mass Communications graduate that is Jonathan.

He worked for so many years with Super Popstar Sarah Geronimo (and won numerous industry awards for her) as former Viva Concerts’ Vice President for Special Projects. He also served as former ABS-CBN’s Vice President / Head of Integrated Events in charge of the recent concerts of Daniel “Teen King” Padilla, LizQuen’s other half, Enrique Gil, Vice “The Unkaboggable Star” Ganda, Lani “The Nightingale’ Misalucha, among others. He had supervised and supervised quite a number of films as well, including the critically acclaimed ‘Ang Lihim Ni Anthonio.’

So what specific type of talented people is he looking for? Men and women, including kids, that can sing, act or dance and have that X factor that is innate to a person. And how does he define X factor? In his books, it’s either you have it or you don’t – there is no grey line. As example, he shows me a YouTube video of X Factor Australia’s Top 5 Finalist – a Filipino Australian named Cyrus Villanueva and he declares – this guy has the X Factor. He has the marketable voice, the charm and the looks. “I am looking for talents like him – with unlimited passion and dedication to make it big!” Jonathan closes.
