PHILIPPINE AIRLINES OPENS DIRECT FLIGHT

(LOS ANGELES TO CEBU – MARCH 15)

SEEN IN THE CITY

(SAN FRANCISCO, CA) – In celebration of its 75th founding anniversary, Philippine Airlines (PAL), the country’s flag carrier, will start operating direct flights from Los Angeles to Cebu (and back) on March 16, 2016, according to PAL North America Regional Manager Marilla Revilla during their Annual Christmas Party last Monday night, December 14, 2015 held at The Fort McKinley Restaurant in South San Francisco, CA. This will be a three (3) times a week flight, furthers Ms. Revilla.

Cebu, consists of the main island itself and the 167 other surrounding islands and islets (Philippines has 7,107 total!), is the center of attention, commerce and tourism activities in the Visayan Region. It’s the birthplace of Christianity in the Philippines and tourist-magnet Annual Cebu Sinulog reflects that cultural fanaticism. Mactan-Cebu is the country’s second busiest airport.

So what does this mean for Filipino travelers? Folks coming from the Visayas and Mindanao can soon fly to the United States via Los Angeles, bypassing the ever trafficked commerce capital, Manila once the international route begins to operate early nextyear.

Apparently, the LAX/CEB/LAX has been requested by frequent international travelers as most of the island tourism happens in the center and around Cebu. From Cebu, travelers can connect to other PAL international destinations in other major cities - Seoul, Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka.

The carrier will use its 254-seater Airbus A340, equipped with both business and economy class seats.

Can’t wait? Watch for more exciting news from Philippine Airlines this coming holidays!
