“Showtime” packs

Great America Park

(More than 12,000 people watched the hottest show during one of summer’s hottest days)

The scorching heat of the summer sun did not deter the flow of more than 12,000 people who watched “One KapamilyaGo” headlined mostly by the hottest noontime TV show today – “Showtime” together with Gerald Anderson, Kim Chiu, Angelica Panganiban, Bugoy, Jovit Baldovino, Jabbawockees, Michael Copon, among others.

One Kapamilya Go drew 7,000 to Ontario Convention Centre in California last 2008 and almost 10,000 to the Redwood Amphitheatre and Picnic Pavilion of California’s Great America in Santa Clara in 2009.

The fun started when crowd started arriving and clogged the park’s main gate at around 8:00 am (the doors opened at 10:00am). They were treated to a wide array of vendor booths offering Tshirts, raffle draws and othe freebies. The huge Picnic Pavilion was overflowing with Pinoy food, pastries and other delicacies from Goldilocks, Ramar Foods, Seafood City, Papaya Grill, among others.

There were pre-shows that entertained the early birds up until the main show that started at exactly 4:45pm.

The highlight of the main event was the opening number featuring all of the stars imported from the Philippines –Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, Vice Ganda, Angelica Panganiban, Bugoy, Jovit Baldivino, among others.

The audience’s loudest cheers were reserved to the now-rumored-to-be-rocky-loveteam of Kimerald – Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson when they sang “Tayong Dalawa” and “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo”.

Even the local dance and musical groups that competed within the “Showtime” segment of the event were all very good – again, a solid testament to the high quality of entertainment ABS-CBN International and The Filipino Channel has been giving us for more than a decade here in the United States.

The show production cast and crew relaxed later in the night at the Hyatt Hotel’s Mezzanine together with their partners at the CA Great America Park for a victory celebration.

Again, congratulations to Nerissa Fernandez, Jeffrey Remigio, Angelo Parga, Jun De Guzman, Mouse Munoz, Eric Pugeda, Cory Vidanes, Raffy Lopez and all the production staff responsible for the very successful “One Kapamilya Go”.

TO-BE-SEEN IN THE CITY

“Sa ‘Yo Lamang”, to screen in 8 U.S. cities startingSeptember 17

(Star Cinema’s 17th anniversary offering wins crowds, critics at Manila, Cebu, Davao premieres)

Imagine Lorna Tolentino, Christopher De Leon, Bea Alonzo,Diether Ocampo, Coco Martin, Zanjoe Marudo, Shaina Magdayao, Enchong Dee, Empress, Miles Ocampo andLauren Young gathered in one film under the direction of award-winning Laurice Guillen and what do you get? Star Cinema’s highly praised 17th anniversary film offering, Sa ‘Yo Lamang (Only Yours), a solid family drama that was rated A, the highest rating given by the Philippine Cinema Evaluation Board, and which premiered before huge crowds that cried and cheered in its simul-premieres in Manila, Cebuand Davao, Philippines on August 31.

Fans of the much awaited film in the U.S. are in for a treat as ABS-CBN’s Starry Starry Store brings Sa ‘Yo Lamang starting September 17 to the following cities: Los Angeles-Cerritos, San Diego, Las Vegas, Honolulu, Seattle, New Jersey-Hoboken, New Jersey-Bergenfield and San Francisco.

“How much do you value your family?”

A decade ago, Guillen won several awards for Tanging Yaman, an inspirational family film drama that also starred a sterling ensemble cast. In Sa ‘Yo Lamang, Guillen and acclaimed screenwriter Ricky Lee worked masterfully in weaving the multiple characters into an intelligent and potent, emotional story. Successful interior designer Dianne Alvero (Bea Alonzo) appears blessed with a happy family. She and her mother, Amanda (Lorna Tolentino), just bought a house for them; her younger siblings, Coby (Coco Martin), James (Enchong Dee) and Lisa (Miles Ocampo) are doing well in school; and she and her boyfriend of two years, John (Zanjoe Marudo), are preparing for their future together. Everything changes when their estranged father, Franco (Christopher de Leon) returns after 10 years of being with his mistress. Dianne seethes in anger towards the man who she thinks abandoned them, but is more revolted by the fact that Amanda and her siblings are willing to take him back as if he never left them.

Confused and hurt, Dianne tries everything to throw her father out of their lives. But then, the family secrets start to unravel: the family breadwinner has become a cold-hearted control freak with infidelity issues, the nursing student is rebellious and promiscuous, the family scholar is actually a cheater in school, the youngest child is crying all the time, dad gets his mistress pregnant… and mom – prayerful and religious – actually hides the most disturbing secrets in the family. Is the Alvero family doomed or is there a glimmer of hope for forgiveness and healing?

“ABS-CBN, the Kapamilya network that we are, always tries to focus on the family – be it for entertainment or for values education or both,” said Kerwin Du, ABS-CBN International’s head of theatricals. “Sa ‘Yo Lamang is unique in the sense that while most of us are familiar with the Biblical story of the prodigal son, here, the central conflict is about the return of a prodigal father and how this has affected the journey of the entire family he had left behind. The story is a beautifully contoured, powerful drama with life-changing and eye-opening lessons. This is a perfect family offering to mark the last four months of the year, as we head for the holiday season.”

PERSONAL NOTES

Calayan Skin Care Aesthetics Skin Care Tip

Here is another skin care tip from Calayan Skin Care Aesthetics in Milpitas, CA:

Give oily skin the slip with a hefty helping of zinc. Acne is the result of too much oil & collection of skin cells. Redness is a sign of inflammatory rush to the scene. Zinc helps calm that response, & it regulates sebum production, stopping shine & preventing more breakouts. Shuck off that ...shine, zap zits with zinc from oyster, baked beans, beef, chickpeas, and pumpkin seeds.
