PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT: CHARICE Concert at the Cow Palace POSTPONED!

To our Filipino friends, Ticket holders, Artists:

With much regret, the two concerts on Nov. 18th in Los Angeles and Nov. 19th in Daly City , are being postponed. Artist Magic Entertainment had contracted with a third party broker for several of the best Filipino artists to perform at both concerts, including: Anne Curtis, Cristine Reyes, Mark Bautista, and Bayani Agbayani. While we at Artist Magic paid the performance fees to this third party as contracted, something fell apart and these incredible artists will not be making the trip to the United States to perform as expected. While it is unclear exactly what happened, it is clear they are not coming.

We will work with the artists’ managers to arrange for the postponed concerts. We anticipate resolving any issues and offering these shows in February or March of next year. We intend to work directly with the artists’ managers to ensure we can provide quality programs for our Filipino community. As for myself and on behalf of my entire team at AME365.com, we would like to apologize for not being able to provide our Filipino friends and ticket holders with these promising shows, and also to apologize to the artists for not providing a platform for them to perform in front of their adoring fans. We also sincerely apologize to both Charice and Dan Hill who were both ready to perform.

It is extremely sad to have to delay two beautiful concerts, but we certainly are looking forward to the new shows in 2012. Meanwhile, tickets may be refunded from the outlets where they were purchased.

Sincerely,

Pia Gutierrez and Kenneth Graham

Perhaps, Charice's first public performance after her father's death will be in Cow Palace this Saturday. So don't miss it!

Before "No Other Woman," TFC had a hard time booking Filipino movies here in the US. Now, theater owners are calling, offering even their trophy theaters downtown to show our movies. Cristine Reyes played the wife in that record-breaking Filipino movie of all time and she will be seen LIVE this Saturday, November 19th at the Cow Palace in Daly City.

"No Other Woman" was so successful that Century Theaters in Milpitas, CA added another theater to accommodate the huge overflow crowd when the movie was shown here in Northern CA last month. Anne Curtis played the other woman in that movie and she will be seen LIVE this Saturday, November 19th at the Cow Palace in Daly City.

Pokwang stars in her very first dramatic starring role in "A Mother's Story." It's now showing at a nearby US theater near you.

Stand Up Comedian, POYAY performs regularly at the SOLITA'S BAR in South San Francisco, every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Menlo Park's Grand Prix Tennis Doubles Champions, The Perkins Twins (Jesse Perkins & Christian Perkins) will also be performing with Charice at the Cow Palace this Saturday.

(R-L:) Arthur Estoesta (Chairman), Ma. Arabella Ballesil Liwag (1st Princess), Jackie Gali Doctolero (Mrs. Agooenian of America 2012), Norma Jaravata Kavanaugh (rep of Emma Ronquillo Martinez-2nd Princess), Romy E. Ronquillo (Pres., Agooenians of America, Inc.).

CHARICE AT COW PALACE THIS SATURDAY

(Perhaps, the Super Singer’s first public performance after her father’s death is in the Bay Area)

TO-BE SEEN IN THE CITY

Charice is made for Hollywood, really. Everything she does make it to the headlines these days. Coming out of her recent family death (her biological father’s), Charice faces the public, perhaps the very first time in “Handog Pasasalamat” a concert scheduled this coming Saturday, November 19th at the Cow Palace in Daly City.

She recently canceled her Singapore Concert leg after her father died to grieve. So are the rest of her South East Asian City Tour legs. But she knows she needs to move on, as countless fans are eagerly awaiting this one. Sharing the Cow Palace stage with Charice this Saturday are the dueling women in the highest-grossing Filipino movie to-date, “No Other Woman” – Cristine Reyes and Anne Curtis. Also performing are Dan Hill, Mark Bautista, Bayani Agbayani and local artists The Perkins Twins (Jesse Perkins & Christian Perkins), Nicole Donesa & Shelby Miguel.

Do not miss Charice’s performance, folks, at the Cow Palace this Saturday at 7:30PM, November 19th @!

Pokwang stars in “A Mother’s Story”

“A Mother’s Story” has many “firsts”. It is the very first movie produced by The Filipino Channel (TFC) – the US-based independent sister company of ABS-CBN headquartered in Redwood City, CA. The movie is also the very first starring role of highly-effective comedienne, Pokwang. It is Pokwang’s first dramatic role. It is the very first Filipino movie released in the United States with English subtitles to be able to cater to non-Tagalog speaking audiences. Buoyed up by the box office success of Star Cinema/Viva Films’ “No Other Woman,” the movie “A Mother’s Story” is also to be shown around the United States in 21 theaters simultaneously (the Filipino movie’s biggest release outside the Philippines) – 18 of those theaters are showing the movie with English subtitles (a very important “first”)!

Directed by John D Lazatin, the movie “A Mother’s Story” was conceived with the goal of not only tapping on the emotions of an Overseas Foreign Worker (OFW) – but also to pay tribute to the sacrifices of every mother who made that choice to leave her children and husband behind in search of that proverbial “pot of gold” to give her family a better life, hopefully. Some will succeed, but a lot will have to hurdle challenges along the way – this is their story.

Pokwang got the lead based largely on her own personal experiences, having worked as an OFW before her show business career, in 2 countries (Japan & Dubai). She essayed the role of a sacrificing mother effortlessly. At her recent “One Kapamilya Go” performance in Los Angeles’ Universal Studios, she cried unabashedly when the movie’s trailer was shown (her 5th , since she saw it the first time). She cries each time she watches the full trailer.

At a recent advanced screening of the movie for media people, which this Columnist attended, tears flowed freely among audiences, mother or not. For the movie touched not only the maternal side – it also touched everyone’s heart. The father left behind to take care of the children are also faced daily with his own challenges and human weaknesses. The children who have difficulty adjusting and accepting will soon realize later in life as they become parents themselves, that life is unfair, but must go on. In the future, they may have to do sacrifices (even greater ones) for their own children.

“A Mother’s Story” is well-directed, well-acted, well-written. It has all the best intentions. Please watch and support this latest undertaking from The Filipino Channel. It is now showing at a major theater near you, here in the United States.
