TO-BE SEEN IN THE CITY

(SAN RAMON, CA) – Filipino American ANGELICA GALINDEZ not your regular 19-year old girl from Salt Lake City, Utah. Born from a Caucasian mother, Patricia Natividad from Adrian, Oregon and a Filipino Father, Erick Galindez originally from Hermosa, Bataan, Philippines, Angelica is one of the candidates in the ongoing MISS PHILIPPINES EARTH-USA (the ONLY "GREEN" pageant in the world today!

Prior to flying in to San Francisco to join, she asked the pageant organizer a simple question that did not struggle for an answer “Can I NOT wear my wig on the pageant?” The organizer’s answer was a quick and simple yes. But when she emailed the organizer her pictures, that’s when the serious conversation began to happen as people and the media more especially, are going to be asking the obvious – “What happened to all her hair?”

She is joining the Miss Philippines Earth (USA) pageant not only to be a Green Ambassador but also to raise the level of awareness in the rare medical condition called ALOPECIA AREATA (it causes all your body hair to fall out).

According to the Alopecia Areata Foundation website, there are three (3) types of alopecia areata: alopecia areata, alopecia totalis and alopecia areata universalis.

In all forms of alopecia areata, the hair follicles remain alive and are ready to resume normal hair production whenever they receive the appropriate signal. In all cases, hair regrowth may occur even without treatment and even after many years.

The first, Alopecia areata, is the most common variation of the autoimmune disease. It presents itself as round, smooth patches of various sizes. The 2nd type, Alopecia totalis presents itself as total loss of hair on the scalp. The 3rd one is is what Angelica has, since she was 15 years old - Alopecia universalis. It is the rarest form of alopecia areata and presents itself as the loss of hair over the entire scalp and body.

CINEMABILITY - A JENNI GOLD FILM

The filmmaker JENNI GOLD is a wheelchair bound/disabled 40 year old DGA member living with Muscular Dystrophy and is qualifying the film for the Oscars and needs all the support we can give her. She missed getting her New York reviews because she was too late in letting everyone know about her opening and she had no one working with her. So, we are reaching out to you to see if you will join us in helping this film and the filmmaker get out to the audience through a review and/or a feature on the film and filmmaker.

The distributor is Gold Pictures. It's actually playing around the country right now and she's on tour driving from city to city with the film with special screenings in over 20 cities. Her theatrical run in LA starts November 8 at Laemmle Town Center 5 Encino.

Also - her personal story as a disabled wheelchair bound female director and DGA member is a great story. She has a lot of support in Hollywood too from actors to producers and heads of studios like Ron Meyer over at Universal and Gale Anne Hurd and Vince Gilligan. It might be worth a feature on a director who has defied all the odds of disability and is living her dream to make films and develop media. She's currently driving across the US screening the film for everyone and REGAL THEATRES has jumped on board to sponsor her screenings as part of their commitment to the disabled and handicapped. When you meet her, her presence is amazing. I was in awe that this person has not let being wheel chair bound or living with Muscular Dystrophy hold her back from pursuing her dream.

CINEMABILITY is developed and conceieved by a disabled handicapped 40 year old woman who is wheel chair bound and has limited mobility in her arms and her neck and head due to Muscular Dystrophy.

The film is a documentary about the representation of disabled and handicapped portrayals in film and television. The film covers the inspiring history of the films dating back from 1930's to now. Jane Seymour narrates the film and interviews include: Ben Affleck, Jamie Foxx, William H.Macy, Marlee Matlin, Geena Davis, Beau Bridges, Gary Sinise, Kyle MacLachlan, Garry Marshall, Taylor Hackford, Michael Apted, The Farrelly Brothers, Gale Anne Hurd, Tom Sherak, Marc Cherry, Vince Gilligan, Camryn Manheim, Kellie Martin, Geri Jewell, Robert David Hall, Ken Howard, and Peter Bogdanovich just to name a few.

What's even more extraordinary is Jenni's story - She is a member of the DGA and has been for a while since 1999. She's been mostly producing and this is her 2nd feature film and one that is very near and dear to her. She is a woman living with Muscular Dystrophy and the disease continues to be debilitating. When she was a young girl on a telethon at the age of 8 years old, she decided that she wanted to be behind the camera and make films and entertainment. And now, here she is with her 2nd film.

Her determination and passion is infectious and inspiring. And it seems like Hollywood thinks so too. She's qualifying the film for the OSCARS and putting it in theaters and REGAL THEATERS has come on board to play her film theatrically around the country and provided her with her New York qualifying engagement at the Regal E-Walk Cinema in Times Square early this month. In addition, RON MEYER of Universal and producer GALE ANNE HURD are huge fans of the film and are sharing the film with their friends and colleagues. The MPAA loves the film and the film received an MPAA rating of PG13.

The film's website: http://www.cinemability.com lists all of the people who have supported her from TODD AO to SOUND DELUX to REGAL, etc…

CINEMABILITY: THE SYNOPSIS

From the early days of silent films to present day, from Chaplin to X-Men, disability portrayals are ever changing. This dynamic documentary takes a detailed look at the evolution of “disability” in entertainment by going behind the scenes to interview Filmmakers, Studio Executives, Film Historians, and Celebrities, and by utilizing vivid clips from Hollywood’s most beloved motion pictures and television programs to focus attention on the powerful impact that entertainment and the media can have on society.

Do disability portrayals in the media impact society or does the media simply reflect our ever-changing attitudes? This important documentary aims to find out if the media has had a hand in transforming the societal inclusion of the disabled and determine if an enlightened understanding of disability can have a positive impact on the world.
