ABS-CBN FOUNDATION NAMES NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR

(REDWOOD CITY, CA) ABS-CBN FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL’s newly appointed Managing Director, LOUIS ‘JERRY’ BENEDICT O. BENNETT made his first public appearance last Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the ‘THROUGH THE EYES OF A CHILD,’ a benefit concert featuring the music of Noriel P. Adricula and friends held at the The Filipino Channel Studios. Based in Northern California, he started officially with the foundation on April 4, 2016.

Speaking to the attendees and supporters, Mr. Bennett says, “In behalf of the children of Bantay Bata (Child Watch), we are deeply grateful to Noriel Adricula for his relentless efforts to raise funds and to all of you for the help that you have provided and continue to give. Kids always see everything with fresh eyes, expecting something new and different every time they look.”

Mr. Bennett’s career in ABS-CBN is going strong - 22 years in June, 2016. He rose from the ranks, from being a radio announcer in 1995 to managing the programming, production and revenues of ABS-CBN provincial radio stations in 1996. He promoted to Director in 2000 of Luzon TV & Radio Operations and then further promoted to AVP Visayas TV & Radio Operations in 2003. Due to demands of the job, he moved to Mindanao Operations & Concurrent Regional Radio Program & Production Head in 2006 and became Division Head of Regional Operations, rank Vice President in 2008. Noteworthy, the Regional Division of the company achieved breakthrough of 1Billion pesos in gross revenues under his leadership.

Because of his strong sense of community relations & social responsibility, he was appointed as the ABS-CBN Head of the Integrated Public Service in 2013. He established the company’s first set of public service policies supporting the integration efforts of the different divisions. He also instituted the first public service Central Calendar System (CCS) of the company as a reference for all business divisions on CSR activities. Together with the other divisions, Mr. Bennett created the company’s first emergency protocols in identifying and minimizing the impact of disasters on employee safety & welfare.

In collaboration with ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya, he framed and implemented the TULONG (Help) NA TEAM Manual – a guide to our community disaster response, relief, and rehabilitation efforts. He also designed the company’s framework for Building Sustainable Caring Communities (BSCC), our 5th strategic imperative of rendering meaningful public service geared towards sustainable long-term transformation. He set-up and opened the ABS-CBN TULONG (Help) CENTER that aims to help the needy, depressed and disadvantaged members of the society. He was a member of the ad hoc committee in charge of the massive relief and recovery program of the network and Sagip Kapamilya for victims of Super Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013. He directed the relief operations for the victims of the October 2013 Bohol earthquake and supervised the logistics for the distribution of relief packs to the displaced families of the Zamboanga siege in September 2013 – an armed conflict between government troops and Muslim rebels. He set-up meetings and forged ties with partners for our community disaster preparedness programs, Building Sustainable Caring Communities, and the Help Center and established the first Integrated Communication Plan, a communiqué that outlines the current status of rehabilitation projects to the donors, beneficiaries and the general public. He served as Officer-In-Charge of ABS-CBN Foundation Sagip Kapamilya from January to March 2014. Managed the relief and recovery programs to areas affected by Super Typhoon Haiyan and developed a corporate public service project to serve the Overseas Filipinos (OF), as a conduit to national government agencies, NGOs, Institutions, and Filipino organizations in bringing relief to specific OFW concerns and problems.

His vast 18 year experience in the Regional operations and 3 years in Integrated Public Service of ABS-CBN, has firmly established his credibility and knowledge in leading and managing a service-oriented organization with a track record of building productive relationships with public and private organizations.

When asked by ‘Scenes In The City,’ in an exclusive solo interview at TFC Studios for his vision for the foundation, he says he wants “A better life for Filipinos worldwide, for the children, for the people in the community and even for the overseas Filipino migrant workers.” To achieve this, Mr. Bennett enumerated not only his Top 3, but 4 projects, namely, “(1) Bantay Bata, a program already widely known to giving education to needy children, helping abused and empowering children to help others. (2) Disaster Preparedness, not just relief and rehabilitation. (3) Intervention in education and health. (4) Global service to the migrant workers wherever they are in the world.

ABS-CBN Foundation’s next event is the 5^th Annual Bayanihan Cup Tournament, a charity golf event on Saturday, June 18 in Brentwood, CA wherein more than 250 golfers are expected to play, in not only one, but two golf courses.
