EAT BULAGA

VS

TELESERYE BIDA

(This Saturday marks a new era in Northern CA entertainment as 2 giant Filipino shows collide)

TO-BE SEEN IN THE CITY

Who will win? It will be Eat Bulaga in Daly City versus Teleserye Bida in Union City on Saturday, March 31st as both shows try to pull-in as many audiences as possible from around the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. Both venue cities are known to be dominated by Filipinos and Fil-Am residents. It is interesting to note that Eat Bulaga is being shown on Channel 7 in the Philippines while Teleserye Bida is packed by ABS-CBN (Channel 2) artists. So in essence, this will effectively be Channel 7 versus Channel 2. History & experience dictates, that the inevitable will happen – as one show or both of them, will suffer in the ticket sales department. It’s the network war going overseas.

Eat Bulaga is popularly known as the longest-running noontime show in the Philippines. The Daly City show will have for its performers, the durable funny trio of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto & Joey De Leo, ,Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Allan K, Jimmy Santos, Anjo Yllana, Ryan Agoncillo, Pauleen Luna, Kempee De Leon, Ruby Rodriguez, Julia Claret, Paolo Ballesteros & the EB Babes. The Cow Palace is located at 2600 Geneva Street, Daly City, CA 94014 (it’s about 34 miles away from the competing venue in Union City).

On the other hand, the “Teleserye Bida”s, who took Canada by storm recently, has tween girl-magnets Gerald Anderson, Enchong Dee, Sam Milby, Rayver Cruz, Xian Lim and Young JV together with the comedienne Pokwang in its performers list. James Logan High School is located at 1800 H Street, Union City CA 94587. Sorry Malou & Company, but VIP tickets are now SOLD OUT! Other ticket prices available are for $28, $48, $68 & $88.

And there’s more. Expect the unexpected as this network war becomes bigger and 3-sided as TV5 launches and Willie Revillame’s Will Time BigTime compete for audiences against KC Concepcion, Jed Madela & Jon Santos in Northern CA’s Cache Creek Casino, both happening on Memorial Day Weekend - May 26, 2012.

3Million iPad3’s sold in 3 days!

3 Million iPad3s were sold in 3 days! Reportedly, the record-breaking iPad 3 sold units do not even include the undelivered preorders yet. Definitely, it’s the strongest iPad launch to-date, the report added. This made the already cash-rich Apple to make its shareholders very happy as it declared quarterly dividends in record numbers also. The superior iPad3 complaints are very few – like the magnet-based folding jacket cover does not work with the new iPad3, apparently for some sensor issues. And the brighter retina contributing to its hotter temperature (not yet nearing explosion level, though), the hottest ever of all the iPads released to-date.

The iPad’s practical use, both business and personal, are all around us. The After Six Dance Band performing in San Leandro’s Zen’s Filipino Cuisine uses their iPads to interactively look for the song lyrics requested during their audience karaoke portion and then use the same unit as a teleprompter right there. I have seen how Fremont’s Maryjane Datu Powell uses it to draw beautiful products of her imagination. iPads are also all around the mall stores displaying their inventory in full color and updated prices. I use it as a GPS while driving when my Garmin fails, among others. And so forth and so on. Have you gotten your iPad3 yet?

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"Why the BIR singled me out smacks of bad faith designed to tarnish my reputation. In just one instance, the BIR has tarnished my name. I shall rise to the occasion and I shall fight this case until the last and final round. We will fight," by 8-Time Boxing Title Holder Manny Pacquiao. On Monday’s press conference, flanked by his power lawyers, Pacquiao said a tax suit filed by the Philippine government had caused him millions of dollars in endorsements. He vowed to fight it out in court. He further urged President Benigno Simeon Aquino III to sack the director of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in Region 12 (named as Rozille Lozares in online reports) for not following proper procedures in filing a tax case against him.

The BIR last month filed a criminal case (punishable by 2 years in jail) against him for failing to submit proper documents about his earnings. Pacquiao reasons that requests were not served to him or his rightful representatives. (This story was lifted from Journal Online & Yahoo News)
