SEEN IN THE CITY

There were a lot of fashion shows left and right these days, but only one of them the reigning Miss World-Canada Riza Santos graced in the US, for the very first time last Saturday night, September 24, 2011 held at the San Jose State University’s Barrett Ballroom – the Bay Area Fashion Week!

Together with 3 other beauty queens (including 2010 Miss Philippines Earth USA Melissa Sokukawa ofUnion City and San Jose’s no-longer Little Miss Philippines Kerlyn Horn) and about 30 plus models (which includes Fil-Ams Jesse & Christian Perkins, Justin Smaby, Leo Reyes, Anthony Bunales, Ritz Castaneda,Alexandria Drechsler, et al), 40 plus Designers (with their 700 plus collections), the biggest fashion show in recent years in San Jose unfolded the latest creations from Tommy Bahama, Oakley, Saks Fifth Avenue, Free People, among others. But the one that created the highest level of surprise and praise is the finale – Bay Area’s pride Crisanta Malig’s latest designs of Filipiniana and Barong Tagalog outfits (Milpitas Mayor Joe Esteves was in the audience and he vocally expressed his admiration for one of ‘em). One by one, the models of differing ethnic background, paraded in unique symmetrical designs, colors and shapes that elicited oohhs and aahhs from fashion-forward audiences that night. Kudos to Crisanta Malig for stopping at nothing to present to us her years of designing experience and inspired creations.

Designer Crisanta Malig’s latest designs will be showcased at the Carnelian Bay in downtown San Francisco on November 13, 2011. Let’s watch it, folks!
