Pacquiao for President!

(And, why not?)

It has been said not once, not twice, but several times.

Mega-Boxing Promoter Bob Arum, who tagged along during Manny Pacquiao’s Sarangani Congressman campaign trail, was quoted as saying, “When he’s 35, he can run for Senate. And when he’s 40, I am sure he’ll be President of the Philippines.” This, in addition to his recent statements proclaiming that Pacquiao is the greatest boxer of all-time, even greater than The Greatest himself – Muhammad Ali.

Just last Sunday, November 7, 2010 on CBS’ highly-watched 60 Minutes TV show profile on Manny Pacquiao, produced by Hollywood’s Michael H. Gavshon and Drew Magratten, host Bob Simon asked The People’s Champ a question normally asked on national television to high-profile US politicians before, “Are you running for President?” As always, the candid, yet honest Pacquiao, answered (after a long pause of thinking), “It’s sooo far away.” In the city that are used to paparazzis following the world-famous celebrities, people can’t still get used to media-heavy Pacquiao sightings from his airport arrivals to his celebrity-laden training gym. He was last photographed leaving the Wild Card Gym in Los Angelesfor his Margarito fight in Dallas.

Speaking of the Nov 13th Pacquiao-Margarito fight, the official host hotel is again, my new favorite (for the way they treat and give utmost importance to us) the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine, Texas. The Media Center will be housed at the Gaylord Texan – Longhorn Exhibit Hall E – Convention Center Level 1 and the Gaylord Texan – Texas Ballroom A –Convention Center Level 3 where the Press can obtain their media credentials and use the facilities to submit their deadline reports.

Fight workout were open to everyone for viewing starting on Tuesday this week. The Main Event Press conference was held on Wednesday, November 10th at 12:00 noon where dedicated buses carried the Media People to the Cowboys Stadium.

The media-heavy (yet, open to the public) weigh-in will be held on Friday, November 12th at 3:00 pm.

This is the FIGHT DAY SCHEDULE, riddled with Press Notes (subject to change):

9 am – 12 noon Credential Distribution at Gaylord Texan

4 pm First Press Bus leaves for Cowboys Stadium

4 pm – 9:30 pm Credential Distribution at Cowboys Stadium

4 pm Doors open

6 pm Final Press bus departs for Cowboys Stadium

My wish and my predictions – Pacquiao KOs Margarito on the 8th and he wins President!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

"I AM ONLY GOING TO MEET MANNY IN LA OR TEXAS BECAUSE HE PROMISED ME THAT THIS IS HIS LAST FIGHT”.” by now-also-famous Mommy Dionesia Pacquiao ambush-interviewed, shortly before boarding her flight from Manila to the US last week. The People’s Champ’s mother has been convincing her son to retire as she fears for his life whenever he is up there in the ring. It is for this reason that she has never watched any of his fights before. Watch Pacquaio 24/7 coverage of his Margarito Nov 13 Dallas fight all the days this week on HBO Sports.
