The 2014 awards received entries from 22 nations and territories.

“I share this recognition with my fellow Filipinos and my family at ABS-CBN, whose passion to serve Filipinos around the world and provide help to those in need makes me so grateful and proud to lead a company that puts public service at the heart of its business,” Santos-Concio said.

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word for “crowned,” the awards were presented to winners during a dinner event attended by more than 400 people at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.

Santos-Concio was cited by the award-giving body for the achievements of ABS-CBN last year under her leadership, such as its continued reign in TV ratings, increase in company revenues, Star Cinema movies’ box-office sales, ABS-CBN’s high credit rating for its P10 billion bond offering, groundbreaking business ventures such as ABS-CBNmobile, theme park Kidzania Manila, and TV home shopping channel O Shopping, and public service initiatives for the victims of Bohol quake, Zamboanga siege, and typhoon Yolanda, and the success of its 60th anniversary celebration.

Stevie Award winners were selected by more than 160 executives worldwide who participated in the judging process this year.

Santos-Concio also received the Gold Stevie Award for the Woman of the Year category for all Asia-Pacific nations (except Australia and South Korea) at the 2014 Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards. ABS-CBN files $12M lawsuit against 18 pirate sites

REDWOOD SHORES, November 24, 2014 - ABS-CBN Corporation, ABS-CBN Film Productions, Inc (Star Cinema) and ABS-CBN International filed suit in US Federal District Court in Florida last November 21, 2014 against 18 pirate sites for damages of over $12 million dollars resulting from the infringement of the copyrights and trademarks of ABS-CBN's popular TV shows and movies.

The defendants are partnerships or unincorporated business associations which operate through domain names registered with registrars in the U.S. and elsewhere. Their domain names are the following: 1) buhaypinoyofw.net; 2)freepinoytvshows.net, pinoylovetvshowreplay.com; 3) hapeetube.biz,lovelytube.biz, pinoy-telebisyon.biz, pinoy-telebisyon.org; 4) lambingan.tk; 5) movieserye.com; 6) pinaytambayan.org; pinoy-ako.me; 8)pinoymoviegallery.net; 9) pinoytambayan.me; 10) pinoytelesine.com; 11)pinoytopmovies.com; 12) pinoytv.me; 13) projectcabbage.com; 14)tambayanofwtv.info; 15) telebesyon.com; 16) telebyuwers.ph,telebyuwers.tv; 17) teleseryereplay.com; 18) yzreplay.com.

Based on the complaint, the defendants provide on-demand streaming performances of full-length versions of ABS-CBN's TV shows and movies through their websites. Defendants often display the latest content to their servers within minutes or hours of the original broadcast in the Philippines. Further, they control the organization and presentation of the content by providing links to ABS-CBN shows and promote and advertise the content as ABS-CBN's through search engine optimization and meta tags, including the use of ABS-CBN's marks, then stream the shows for users' viewing through their websites. With the popularity of ABS-CBN films and TV shows, these sites drive significant traffic that enable them to reap profits from advertising and other revenue.

According to ABS-CBN AVP of Global Anti-Piracy Elisha Lawrence, "this is another phase in our relentless enforcement campaign to identify and punish pirates whose sites have been reported to contain malware that can cause substantial financial harm to innocent people who were just trying to view our shows and movies."

This latest lawsuit comes on the heels of the police search and seizure by police in Victoria, Australia at the home of Mary Smith in the suburb of Barooga, New South Wales in Australia where numerous pirate ABS-CBN DVDs, DVD burners and hundreds of pirated ABS-CBN movies on computer hard drives were located. Recently, ABS-CBN also received a US$10 million judgment from the U.S. Federal District Court in Oregon against Jeffrey Ashby for damages from his infringing the copyrights and well-known trademarks of ABS-CBN by rebroadcasting ABS-CBN's popular TV shows and movies on his pirate websites. Among the many pirate sites that Ashby owned were watchfilipinotv.com,watchfilipinomovies.com and pinoytalaga.com.

"We at ABS-CBN are committed to giving our viewers the best viewing experience for our content and protecting the rights of the talented creative and production teams that work hard to deliver these shows and films," said ABS-CBN Global COO Raffy Lopez. "Online pirates undermine that, hence, we are determined to discourage and stop them."

Can You Change The Past Without Messing It Up Further?

This fresh rom-com presents the story of Belle (De Las Alas) in 2034 who wakes up after being in a coma for 20 years. The last thing she remembers is getting into an accident while chasing after her boyfriend Carlos (Daniel Matsunaga) to apologize. She learns that Carlos died the same night that she got into an accident. Belle couldn’t believe how her life turned out.

Belle was given a chance by Papa Time (Benjie Paras) to time travel to 2014 to correct her mistakes, but as the 2034 version of herself. In doing so, she finds out things that make her decide to change the course of the past. First, she learns that Carlos is a bad guy for her after all and that her best friend Babs (Lim) is in love with her. She then decides to make her younger self (Chiu - yes, no kidding) fall in love with Babs hoping to get Carlos out of the picture and to avoid the accident.

In the process, things go out of her control, putting Belle's future life at risk of becoming even worse.

Well-known movie critic Isah V. Red wrote: "Past Tense is a film about the consequences people have to deal with, the changes they have to face, and the chances they have to give based on the many choices that have to make in their lifetimes. Past Tense features the winning combination of the country’s ace comedienne, a certified blockbuster director, and a love team that is loved and adored by millions."

Filipino film “EDSA Woolworth” looks into blended family issues and values

TFC@theMovies offers must-see “different” family entertainment film to 41 US and Canada theatres starting this Friday, November 14

REDWOOD SHORES, CA, November 10, 2014 – The holiday season is here and this has been the time that major film studios roll out their biggest and brightest movies to entertain the family.

The road to Thanksgiving weekend in cinema history has been filled with big screen offerings for everyone in the household: from the mega-box office performers like “Frozen” and “Hunger Games: Catching Fire” to the hilarious Robin Williams starrer, “Mrs. Doubtfire”, and the quirky Jodie Foster-helmed “Home for the Holidays”.

In 2011, ABS-CBN TFC made its intrepid entry into the world of film production with “A Mother’s Story”, also released in November in time for the holidays. This seemingly unassuming, family-oriented movie about an overseas Filipina working mother in the U.S. who sacrifices much for her family in the Philippines surprised many with 18 nominations from the Filipino Academy of Motion Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) in 2012. It was also adjudged Best Film at the 2012 Migration Advocacy and Media Awards (MAM) awarded by the Commission on Filipinos Overseas.

The FAMAS-nominated star and director of “A Mother’s Story” – versatile comedienne actress Pokwang and ABS-CBN Global Head of Theatricals John-D Lazatin, respectively - have teamed up anew for TFC@theMovies’ second film, which will open this Friday, on November 14, in 30 theatres in the U.S. and 11 in Canada as another Thanksgiving theatrical offering for the family.

EDSA Woolworth: The story of a “different” kind of family

What is EDSA Woolworth? Who is EDSA Woolworth?

EDSA Woolworth is a film that looks into a blended Filipino and American family whose members, at first glance, have everything clashing – personalities, lifestyles, life goals, name it. If you were to match a whole family, this one’s a mismatch. But the journey each member takes to look beyond what doesn’t work and focus on what does – within themselves and with others - is a story that will resonate among many families nowadays. In the end, it's all about love and values,” said Lazatin.

Lazatin continues: “EDSA Woolworth as a character is Pokwang. In her name alone, you can see already two cultures, two races, put together. It stands out; so do Pokwang’s character and her family in this film, in more ways and reasons than one.”

Lazatin explains why he teamed up with Pokwang anew for the movie. “Pokwang is very relatable,” he said. “Whether she plays bizarre comedic roles or straight up drama, viewers identify or empathize with her characters. She brings passion and authenticity into her roles which connect easily with viewers.”

With the always brilliant funny girl, Pokwang, in the title role, expect generous moments of laugh-till-it-hurts hilarity in EDSA Woolworth. Expect some daring, too, especially with her character’s relationship with charming Chad Bauer, played by American actor Lee O’Brian. Their easy chemistry ignites onscreen and brings the audience into their private space, whether to swoon, laugh or cry.

Excellent cast and crew

The interesting family dynamics full of quirks and idiosyncrasies come into full play through the spot-on acting by the very capable cast. The film assembled the dignifiedStephen Spohn as Papa Frank Woolworth, the talented Ricci Chan as Boni Woolworth, and Prince Saruhan as the angst-ridden twentysomething Paco Woolworth. Enriching (or complicating) their lives are popular “Adobo Nation” co-host Lee Robin Salazar as Patrick and Princess Ryan as Shayne.

Lazatin tapped writer-director Noel Nuguit for EDSA Woolworth’s story and screenplay, and relied anew on “A Mother’s Story’s” FAMAS-nominated cinematographer Shayne O. Sarte and editor Mitos R. Briones. The film’s photography captured the beauty of the San Francisco Bay Area which many viewers will be able to identify.

The music will linger in the viewers’ minds. Original songs sung by artists are on www.EDSAWoolworth.com home page: “Dressing Room” by Summer Breeze, “Undone” by Manny Garcia, “Dancing All Night Long” by Michelle Martinez are available on iTunes, and “Felt Like Love” by Ricci is a free download from the film website.

EDSA Woolworth is the perfect Thanksgiving holiday entree for the family,” said ABS-CBN North America Managing Director Olivia De Jesus. “It doesn’t overwhelm with too much, but it bursts with interesting flavors that are tasty and entertaining, sometimes surprising, and guaranteed to leave the family talking about it.”

TFC "GALING NG FILIPINO" MUSIC PROFILE: The Music Behind "EDSA Woolworth"featuring Summer Breeze

TFC@theMovies presents its second film offering in time for Thanksgiving; Catch EDSA Woolworth in 49 theatres in US & Canada starting this Friday, Nov 14

One of the many little things that will linger in the minds of the moviegoers when they watch TFC@theMovies' second film offering, EDSA Woolworth, is the music soundtrack. There are four Filipino American artists whose original works are featured in this precious and unique family movie for the holidays. One of them is Summer Breeze a.k.a. producer-singer-songwriter-musician Amiel Maquilan, based in South San Francisco, California, whose song, "Dressing Room (Blessed Me With You)", is a beautiful, memorable, and proudly Filipino composition that will mesmerize viewers of said movie.

Summer Breeze is a youtube sensation managed by The Luna Co. His music videos, showing acoustic soul, pop, jazz and R&B influences, have drawn over 6 million views combined on YouTube, which propelled him to travel and perform in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Oregon, the Midwest, Canada and the Philippines. He has shared the stage with the Bay Area's number one FilAm R&B group Legaci (who performed as back-up singers for Justin Bieber) and with international superstars, Black Eyed Peas.

On his Facebook page, it says that "his drive for music increases day by day and continually works even harder to spread his messages across the nation. He says, 'I just want to use the gift that God has given me with all my might and to inspire those who are uninspired.'"

Listen and sing along with Summer Breeze when his song, "Dressing Room (Blessed Me With You)", plays on TFC@theMovies' EDSA Woolworth, showing this Friday, November 14, in 49 theatres in US & Canada.

The song, "Dressing Room (Blessed Me With You)", is available on iTunes.

The video is on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dazA3bYgA0Q. The lyrics below:

Dressing Room (Blessed Me With You)

"The best things in life are found when you're not looking." - Amiel Maquilan

saw her smile the first time the other day

never let opportunity slip away

caught her all alone in the dressing room

told her that "i really love your hair"

then began to swoon

saw her eyes and began to stare

the whole world came to stop like no ones there

they say it's windows to the soul

pure and beautiful

what's this feeling in my heart

cupid shot a dart

doesn't take a day to recognize sunshine

give me all your trust and i'll give you all of my time

God put you in my plans today

You....

you're the reason why i smile didn't expect to come

through...

from the feeling in my heart it's a brand new start with

you....

God put you in my life and my dreams are coming

true....

i was lonely in my life so He blessed me with

you....

memories, silly things, did today

violins, guitar strings start to play

standing next to me while you smile some more

i can take you downtown we'll explore the world

city lights and Bernal Heights, she likes that

long walks and funny talks come back

feeling so complete i begin to see

that everything we do is like a movie scene

doesn't take a day to recognize sunshine

give me all your trust and i'll give you all of my time.

God put you in my plans today.

In an interview, Kapuso Primetime Queen Marian Rivera shares how blessed she is to have program like this, “Mixed yung emotions ko. Una sa lahat napamahal sa akin ang Marian, yung staff and crew especially the dancers dahil nakita ko ‘yung effort nila. Hindi biro talaga ang ginagawa nila tuwing may taping ang Marian. Talagang na-appreciate ko kung gaano nila binubuhos ang pagmamahal nila sa pagsasayaw. Nakakalungkot dahil matatapos ‘to pero masaya ako dahil looking forward ako sa panibagong yugto ng buhay ko.” [I have mixed emotions. First of all, I’ve come to love the show, the staff and the crew, especially the dancers because I really saw the effort they put into this. What they do each taping day is not a joke. I really appreciated how much love they poured into their dancing. It’s sad that it has to end but I’m happy and looking forward to this next chapter of my life.]

Also up for the finale episode is an exclusive and in-depth look at the Despedida de Soltera of Marian graced by female members of the wedding entourage and families of both the bride and the groom.
