The predominantly teenagers and young professionals that attended the MYX MASH concert byComcast (co-presented by The Filipino Channel) last Saturday night at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium were yelling his name. His real name is Peter Hernandez but he is more popularly known in the music world as American singer-songwriter Bruno Mars, 24, a half-Filipino, half-Puerto Rican all-artist.

Bruno may look mixed Asian/North American, but his voice is undeniably all-Filipino, pure, solid, powerful and charming. The lyrics to his Billboard Number 1 hit song “Nothin on You” is also romantically all-Filipino. It tells of a guy’s undivided feeling towards a girl, despite all the beautiful girls he says ‘Hi’ to all over the world.

According to Wikipedia, Bruno was born in Hawaii from a Filipina mother, Bernadette "Bernie"San Pedro Bayot, (his dad, Pete is from Puerto Rico) on October 8, 1985, Bruno was raised inLos Angeles writing pop, alternative hip hop, soul, rock, R&B, experimental music.

Bruno is one of six children, (brother Eric and sisters Jaime "Kailani", Tiara, Tahiti and Presley). He came from a musical family giving him a diverse mix of Reggae, Rock, Hip Hop, and R&B.

From a young age, he was impersonating and performing songs by influential artists such asMichael Jackson and Elvis Presley. In 1990, at the tender age of 4, Bruno was featured in MidWeek magazine as "Little Elvis". He attended President Theodore Roosevelt High School , graduating in 2003 at age 17, and shortly after moved to L.A. to pursue a musical career.

Before becoming a successful solo artist, he was an acknowledged music producer writing songs for the likes of Flo Rida, Alexandra Burke, Travie McCoy, Adam Levine, Brandy, and Sean Kingston.
