For sixteen (16) years, Club Royale International, a San Francisco-based private foundation chooses, from its roster of nominees, its annual King and Queen and properly proclaim and crown them in a lavish ceremony.

This year was no exception as it chose no less than the Marriott Marquis in downtown San Francisco as the venue of its latest Coronation Gala as it crowns its latest royal King and Queen – Manila Mail’s James Bradford Adkins and Philippine Airlines’ Herminia Lavarias, respectively.

Orange was the dominant color of the night with Queen Herminia garbed in a white gown adorned with Swarovski crystals while King James donned a gold and purple ensemble complete with matching purple cape.

Choreographed by Jonathan and Ellen Goco of Dance Unlimited Studio of Pinole, pairs of 16 distinguished couples danced the traditional Royale Waltz led by Club Royale President Gil Navarro, California State Commissioner Rey Satorre and Magandang Filipina model Camille Bernadeo, Club Royale Hall of Famer beauty impresario Ferdie Villar and former Mrs. RP-Las Vegas Nina Alberto, Benny Piotrkowski and Linda Standcliff, Willem Hinse and Selfa Haenny, Rollie Lavarias and Maria Clara Viray, Jonathan Goco and Eileen Goco, Michael Back and Aurora Viray, Robert Tuazon and Nelly Cojuangco, JD Charisma and Susan Pacifico, Marvin Cuaresma and Bituin Ignacio, Lambert Paniza and Dorie Paniza, Jose Panlilio and Tessie Labitoria, Louie Blanch and Dolly Baclig, Walter Back and Maria Back, and Rolly Mungues and Elizabeth Pasco.

Magic Melt Ensaymada Now in the US

On a recent flight back to the US, this columnist had the most fortunate luck of meeting inflight, the Chief Executive Officer of Magic Melt (yes, that familiar ‘ensaymada’ from the Philippines), Ms. Carolyne L. Go who took the very limited time we shared waiting for our touchdown to introduce us the Magic Melt ‘family’ of ensaymadas – the Regular, Ube, Macapuno and Yema flavors! Her Cebu-made (she has 2 locations in Mambaling and Lapu-Lapu) ensaymadas are now available here in the US through Seafood City and other major Filipino food chain of stores. I have personally tried all flavors and my favorites are the Ube and the Macapuno which both have distinct ‘fruity’ aftertaste. And what do you know – franchise opportunities will be made available to interested parties; please call (63) 917- 327-5533 or email elg@mozcom.com.
