BEST SHOW EVER

(SUPER BOWL 50 HALFTIME)

SEEN IN THE CITY:

SANTA CLARA, CA – If the 3:00PM closing of Super Bowl City in downtown San Francisco is an indication, of the forthcoming onslaught of dynamite performances of never-been-done before combination of Coldplay’s Chris Martin (Hollywood's Gwyneth Paltrow’s ex-husband), Beyonce and Bruno Mars – then the entertainment producers of the Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show made the rightful decision to ensure maximum audience attention is glued to the Levi’s Stadium by 3:30PM last Sunday, February 7th.

Lady Gaga gave the best rendition ever (at par with the late Whitney Houston version) of the US National Anthem, capped by the US Navy Blue Angels fighter jets soaring high above the stadium. It was an excellent display of planning and preparation as the jets cannot come any earlier as it will drown Lady Gaga’s singing. Perfectly, the jets arrived at the skies with smoke tails at the precise second as they were rehearsing it a week before.

We got the first sight of Chris Martin kneeling as the first few bars and tunes of his introduction song "Yellow" play on. A crowd of younger generation began surrounding him as he began singing "Viva La Vida." He was jumping across the LED illuminated colorful stage, biting his lips and tongue and engaging with the mostly teenaged crowd.

At this point, we were treated to Coldplay’s brand of entertainment as seen from their YouTube videos as they perform "Paradise" and "Adventure of a Lifetime," in a precise control of bursting colors, dancers and special effects. At this point, we were already filled to entertainment capacity.

Then enter leather-clad Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson with the male dancers who performed "Uptown Funk," followed by Beyoncé who debuted her "Formation," single during that performance.

When the three superstars (Chris Martin, Beyonce, Bruno Mars) met in the middle of the stage for their final chorus of "Up&Up" from Coldplay's new album, they were effectively cementing their place in Super Bowl history as the one to beat for generations to come.

A day earlier, Super Bowl City reached maximum capacity as early as 1:00PM – hours before the scheduled performance of Grammy-winning artist Alicia Keys. In addition, Matt Nathanson, The Band Perry and OneRepublic sucecedingly entertained the crowds days before her.

The reigning Miss Universe, Pia Wurtzbach was very visible during Super Bowl week, attending Red Carpet and other events in the Bay Area as the Special Correspondent for CNN’s “Inside Edition.”

This year’s edition of the Super Bowl will be long remembered as “The Best HalfTime Show Ever!” “The Best Super Bowl, Ever!” Can’t hardly wait for Super Bowl 51!

By the way, I almost forgot, the Denver Broncos beat Carolina Panthers 24-10. LOL!

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte takes the hot seat on Wanted: President this Sunday

Dubbed “The Punisher” and Davao’s “Dirty Harry,” Mayor Rodrigo “Rody” Duterte does not mince words. He has been known to lace his speeches with expletives, and his controversial statements are often quoted in the headlines.

In Wanted: President this Sunday, February 7, the long-time mayor faces veteran anchor Mel Tiangco as she questions him about his alleged human rights’ abuses and the so-called Davao Death Squad. When Tiangco asks Duterte about how he intends to rid the country of drugs, crime and corruption in six months, Duterte replies, “It could be bloody.”

Duterte also defends his stand on the death penalty, saying that it is for “retribution” rather than “deterrence” and that federalism is the “only way that the Moro people can be pacified.” To achieve peace, Duterte says he plans to give leftist leaders cabinet positions.
