AEGIS LIVE

IN SAN JOSE

TO-BE SEEN IN THE CITY

(San Jose, CA) – AEGIS, the all-female rock band had conquered Switzerland, Belgium, England, Canada, Japan, Dubai, Hongkong, Ireland and the United Statees, just to name a few with their unforgettable chart-toppers “Halik,” “Luha” and “Basang Basa sa Ulan.” Now, hear them all over again as they perform LIVE at the Center for Performing Arts located at 255 Almaden Boulevard, San Jose, CA 95113 on Saturday, October 13, 2013 starting at 6:30PM.

Aegis recorded hit songs that mirror real-life experiences and usual sentiments of many Filipinos which made them become one of the crowd’s favourite. Their OPM hits reflect the struggles of most people in love especially during break ups and not-so-good confrontations. Because of the melancholic melody of their songs, it speaks more of the distress of those who come apart of the seams and feeling cheesed off with their lives–eventually, making the musical group as a comfort at the drop of a hat that no international artist can totally achieve.

Gaining popularity nationwide and among Filipino Overseas Workers worldwide, the band proved their credibility as singers by staying modest and creating strong bonding that eventually resulted to long years of friendship. The Aegis band had truly come a long way when it comes to music stardom. Up until now, you could hear people of all ages belting out their hit songs and enjoying the shared videoke vibe with their family and friends.

No one could ever forget the band that once made a name to the OPM rock.

ABS-CBN PUBLISHING WINS BIG AT THE ASIAN PUBLISHING AWARDS

ABS-CBN Publishing, Inc. (API) received a total of five Asian Publishing awards in rites held last July 12 at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Manila.

API won for "Best Feature on Cars" and "Best Feature on Wine Tasting", both for Vault magazine; for "Best Feature on Interior Design" for Metro Home magazine and "Best Feature on Asian Fashion" for Metro magazine. In the book category, Juan Ponce Enrile: A Memoir was awarded for "Best Insights into Asian Societies."

According to the Asian Publishing Conference Committee, the awards organizers, there were 171 entries from Asia. API joined winners from eight countries, which included three others from the Philippines.

“We are proud of this achievement, knowing that our locally developed magazines can compete and win against many franchised global brands. I thank God and the great people I worked with for excelling in their respective categories. I also want to thank the Asian Publishing Conference Committee for the recognition that they’ve given us,” said Ernie Lopez, President of API.

“There has never been a more competitive and transformative period in history of magazine media. Audiences are segmenting rapidly, and there are over 500 magazines sold on a typical bookstore, with many more alternatives on digital storefronts. It is therefore heartening to see Philippine publications and our brands competing in terms of quality at an international level,” added Mark Yambot, Managing Director of API.

This is the second year in a row for Vault magazine to be recognized for editorial excellence. A high-end men’s lifestyle magazine, Vault magazine also won the “Best New Magazine” and “Best Cover Design” in APA for 2012. “Our fine wines and motoring sections are particularly popular for their depth, detail, insider knowledge and visual attractiveness. Shot in Milo Naval’s house in Sorsogon, Metro Home’s winning feature showcased Philippine ingenuity through the tropical and modernist design of the established interior and furniture designer.

Metro’s winning entry was an Iza Calzado photo shoot in Barcelona which showcased creations from top and aspiring Filipino designers. This is also the second win for the magazine whose iPad edition was awarded in 2011 for “Best in Tablet Platform.”

Kusina Master wins big at NAMIC Vision Awards

GMA-7’s Kusina Master proves its international caliber once more after winning as Best Lifestyle Program at the prestigious 19th Annual NAMIC Vision Awards. Chef Boy Logro’s well-loved cooking show, which was submitted as an entry for GMA Life TV, the first Filipino lifestyle channel abroad, also makes history as the first ever winner from GMA as well as the Philippines in the said competition.

GMA Pinoy TV’s co-production Pusong Pinoy Sa Amerika, on the other hand, bagged a nomination in the Foreign Language Category.

GMA Vice President and Head of International Operations Joseph T. Francia considers their latest achievement as an important milestone for GMA Life TV, which recently marked its fifth anniversary. “This award is truly an honor for both GMA Life TV and the excellent team behind Kusina Master, confirming its world class standards for the second time this year,” he said.

Kusina Master bested entries from Scripps, one of the biggest TV networks in the US. This award comes right on the heels of the program’s recent victory at the 2013 US International Film and Video Festival, wherein it earned a Certificate for Creative Excellence.

GMA OIC for Entertainment TV Lilybeth G. Rasonable expresses her thanks for all the recognition and praise that Kusina Master has been receiving not only in the Philippines, but also internationally. “We sincerely thank the NAMIC Vision Awards for this honor and we commit to continue delivering superior information and entertainment to our audience here and abroad,” she enthused.

Nicol Turner-Lee, Ph.D, President and CEO of the National Association of Minorities in Communications (NAMIC), informed GMA International of the win and extended her “congratulations on this esteemed honor.”

The NAMIC Vision Awards is dubbed as “a celebration of multicultural contributions in the media industry.” It is “one of the few national (US-wide) competitions that salute original television or digital content that reflects the depth and breadth of experience and contributions of people of color.” The likes of CNN, HBO, Disney, ESPN, Nickelodeon and other mainstream US networks usually dominate the Vision Awards.

Sutter Keely (Miles Teller) lives in the now. It's a good place for him. A high school senior, charming and self-possessed, he's the life of the party, loves his job at a men's clothing store, and has no plans for the future. A budding alcoholic, he's never far from his supersized, whisky-fortified thirst-master cup. But after being dumped by his girlfriend, Sutter gets drunk and wakes up on a lawn with Aimee Finicky (Shailene Woodley) hovering over him. She's different: the "nice girl" who reads science fiction and doesn't have a boyfriend. She does have dreams, while Sutter lives in a world of impressive self-delusion. And yet they're drawn to each other.

This adaptation of Tim Tharp's novel The Spectacular Now captures the insecurity and confusion of adolescence without looking for tidy truths. Young actors rarely portray teens with the maturity that Teller and Woodley display, and they are phenomenal together. THE SPECTACULAR NOW is a funny, compassionate and poignant look at young adulthood, written by (500) DAYS OF SUMMERscribes Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, directed by James Ponsoldt (SMASHED) and produced by Tom McNulty, Shawn Levy, Andrew Lauren and Michelle Krumm.
