This week in FS1, the children took part in a “Sort the Buttons” activity inspired by our story Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons. Our learners explored sorting buttons by colour, carefully grouping and comparing them. They talked about what they noticed, used mathematical language such as same, different, and more, and began to recognise simple patterns. This activity supported early maths skills, including sorting, counting, and developing an understanding of similarities and differences.
The children explored collage making on cardboard, using a variety of materials to design and create their own pictures. They selected, arranged, and stuck materials carefully, showing creativity and developing fine motor skills. The activity linked to our phoneme of the week /c/ as the children talked about cardboard, collage, cutting, and colours, reinforcing early sound awareness through hands on learning.
This week our FS1 learners enjoyed a very special trip to the Cultural Hall to watch Charlie Cook’s Favourite Book live on stage. The children were so excited to travel by bus together and experience a real theatre performance. This outing supported our understanding of the world as the children explored their community beyond the classroom and experienced a live show for the very first time together. It also helped build their confidence, independence, and curiosity about the world around them.
Our phonics focus for this week has been the phoneme /c/. Our FS1 learners enjoyed exploring this sound through a range of engaging, interactive experiences woven into our classroom provision. At the playdough table, children explored /c/ through coffee-flavoured playdough as they created /c/ cupcakes with /c/ candles, strengthening their fine motor skills and hand control. These playful activities helped the children make clear connections to the /c/ sound, while encouraging rich conversations as they shared ideas, described what they were making, and learned alongside their friends.

ما تم دراسته الأسبوع الماضي | What was learned
Last week, our little learners explored basic body parts, focusing on names such as: eye, nose, ear, mouth, hands, and feet. We engaged in fun learning and movement activities to reinforce body part knowledge, and we sang the Five Senses Song together to promote fun and interactive learning
ما سيتعلمه الأطفال الأسبوع القادم | What Children Will Learn
االأسبوع القادم، سيتعلم أطفالنا الأعزاء عن الحواس الخمس، وسنركز أيضًا على تعلّم العدد 3 من خلال أنشطة تعليمية ممتعة وتفاعلية.
Next week, our little learners will explore the five senses, and we will also focus on learning the number 3 through fun and interactive activities.
Please find here the External PAID ECA Providers at Nadeen School for Term 2.
We are pleased to inform you that a dedicated email address has now been created for reporting learner absences. Please use attendance@nadeenschool.com to notify the school if your child will be absent on the day. All of the absence correspondence should as always go through the form tutor. This will help us ensure accurate attendance records and streamline communication. Thank you for your cooperation.
We will begin phasing the purchasing of food from the canteen into Primary from Wednesday, 14th October, starting with Year 6 learners. To support the smooth operation of this process, learner cards will be kept in school and given to students at lunchtime to make purchases.
Please note: learners can only purchase food if they have a card.
If you would like your child to buy lunch from the canteen, you will need to purchase a learner card. Instructions for how to purchase the card can be found spare APP.
Please ensure there is sufficient money loaded onto the card to allow your child to buy food. You can use the SPARE app to top up the card, view what your child has eaten, and purchase meals in advance.
We are aiming to introduce this system to Year 4 and Year 5 learners after the half-term break. We need this time to carefully organise the process so that we can maximise efficiency and ensure a smooth experience for all learners.
We thank you for your patience and understanding during this introductory phase.
