A Message to Jeffco Public Schools Families and Staff

Thanks to the passage of Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA) by Colorado voters, all students in Jeffco Public Schools who attend a school participating in the National School Lunch Program will now have access to healthy and nutritious meals at no cost beginning in the 2023-24 school year, regardless of income eligibility. View this webpage to learn more about what meal service will look like for students in the 2023-24 school year.

Families are Still Encouraged to Complete a Meal Benefits Application

Families are not required to complete a Meal Benefits Application; however, all families are strongly encouraged to apply. Completing a Meal Benefits Application will help with additional education funding for schools and may allow for waivers of school-related fees.

State Data Release: Jeffco Students Outperformed State Average

Jeffco Public Schools is pleased to share that our students outperformed the state average on the Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS) English and math tests for all grades, as shown by the 2023 results from the Colorado Department of Education. Our PSAT and SAT results were also higher than the state average.

Like other areas in Colorado and the U.S., Jeffco students faced learning challenges due to the compounding impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Jeffco students, including specific groups like English Language Learners (ELLs) and those with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), are steadily returning to their pre-pandemic achievement levels.

September 2023 - Connecting and Community

What does the research say? School connectedness is when students feel that adults and peers in the school care about their learning as well as about them as individuals (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).  Because school connectedness affects mental health, physical health, resilience, and attendance, it is important that students form relationships for their own well-being and that they are PART of a relationship that benefits the well-being of others in the school community.

Weeks 1-4:  Focusing on connecting and community is beneficial for everyone.  Here are some ideas for exploring connecting and community at home.  Here are activities for each week.
