Linguistic Idiosyncrasies: A Socio-pragmatic Study of Iraqi Arabic Idiosyncratic Expressions

Abstract- Some people are characterized by certain words or structures that have become a part of their linguistic identity due to the overuse and frequency of using such words or structures. The current study is an attempt to shed light on such a phenomenon in Iraqi Arabic and to relate the structures to their social sources. The research begins with some questions to be answered and puts the hypotheses. The data were collected from different parts of Iraq depending on the researcher's observations, records, and interviews. The data then classified and analyzed to set the findings on which the conclusions were built up.
