Assistant Lecturer Sarwan Wasman Hamad at the department of General Biology, gave a seminar entitled “SARS-CoV-2 : New Member In Corona virus Family” on 29th April 2020 at 04:00 PM to 05:00 PM through an online conference (Hangout meet). Corona viruses are a group of related viruses that cause diseases in mammals and birds. Corona virus family composed of 40 species including SARS-CoV-2 which recently merged and caused COVID-19 pandemic. In humans, corona viruses cause respiratory tract infections that can range from mild to lethal. Mild illnesses include some cases of the common cold (which is caused also by certain other viruses, predominantly rhinoviruses), while more lethal varieties can cause SARS, MERS, and COVID-19. "
