Lecturer Waleed Mohammed Qader in Civil Engineering department has held a seminar entitled “Morphometric analysis Using Geo-informatics Techniques” which conducted on May/5/2019 at 12:00 PM in the department of Civil Engineering. Morphometry is the measurement and mathematical analysis of the configuration of the earth’s surface, shape and dimension of its landforms (Clarke 1996; Agarwal 1998; Obi Reddy et al. 2002). The morphometric analysis is done successfully through measurement of linear, aerial, relief, the gradient of channel network and contributing ground slope of the basin. geospatial technology, such as remote sensing, and GIS have proved to be efficient tools and extensively used in micro watershed related studies, and particularly, GIS techniques offer a powerful tool for analysis, management, and extraction of spatial information for better understanding.

GIS-based evaluation using Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) and Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) data has given a precise, fast, and an inexpensive way for analyzing hydrological systems The processed DEM was used successfully for generating the stream network and other supporting layers.
