Assistant Lecturer Manaf Basil Raewf at the Department of Banking and Financial Science gave a seminar entitled “Blue Ocean Strategy” on 10th March 2021 at 12:30 PM. The seminar focused on the blue oceans’ strategy which implies that a business will be better off looking for opportunities to play in uncontested market spaces rather than competing in established marketing spaces. It is the concept of generating and capturing new demand in order to find market spaces that are free of competitors, thereby rendering competition irrelevant. Netflix is an example of a blue ocean strategy. By selling TV shows over the internet, which no one else was doing at the time, Netflix provided an uncontested marketing area.
