Player aligns their hips and feet with the near-side back edge of home plate in an “open” position. Player coils/loads as normal trying to drive the ball back up the middle. The focus of this drill is improving swing depth and direction. It should teach the player how to hit the ball the other way productively while maintaining good posture. It will also help correct a downward swing path, losing the barrel, and/or having poor barrel direction. It may also help prevent roll overs and weak opposite field contact while maintaining good posture.
