Start in a normal batter’s stance. Perform a rear leg load by shifting back on the rear leg. Most importantly, as you accelerate the bat forward, begin to form a stiff lead leg block by extending the knee and accepting ALL of your bodyweight on the front side. The point of this drill is to exaggerate lead leg mechanics so the athlete can learn to forcefully anchor the lead hip to allow for the rear hip to rotate fast. The end position consists of a fully straight front leg with the hips and torso stacked on top of each other. And the rear leg completely off the ground.
