Cults - Caspian (Pseudo-Luciferian)

Even before the emergence of the God-King, there were such sects and groups, albeit few in number and often the subject of lurid fiction. Official denominations such as the Church of Satan didn’t really believe in demons, much less Satan; the Devil was merely a symbol of their rejection of social mores.

Unlike other cults, the members of these congregations worship Caspian under the guise of a supernatural deity/entity called the Angel of Light (otherwise known as Lucifer). It is only when goes ascends higher up the hierarchy that the truth is revealed. Still, worship is worship, and such cults can serve Caspian's purposes and provide him with power through their prayer.

Headquarters/Meeting Places:

Lairs vary considerably from city to city and  nation to nation, and their outwardappearance depends greatly on the cult leader and the locale. Strangely understaffed floors of skyscrapers,falling-down mansions in old seaside towns, ancient temples of forgotten civilizations far from the habitations of man, abandoned churches allowed to fall into disuse...  all of these and more can serve the cult’s purposes. But all meeting places have features in common: the Chapel; the Altar; and the Workroom.

The chapel is the center of a Satanic cult's activities. Here the cult leader conducts rituals and practices human sacrifice. The frequent rituals performed in a chapel serve a greater purpose than simply instilling

members with a sense of loyalty and belonging. Taught to the cult leader during his initiation, the rituals also imbue the chapel with magical powers he can tap into and use to increase his power.

Indoor Chapels are painted either black or crimson (or a combination of the two), the floor bare or covered with rugs or carpets of plain design, either black or crimson. When not in use, the Chapel is kept dark and warm, hazel incense being burned frequently. A quartz sphere or large crystal is always kept in the Chapel, either in or near the altar: if near, it is supported by an oak stand. If an abandoned church has been converted into an Indoor Chapels then the altar is retained and black cloths cover any statues of saints. The crucifix is turned upside down to represent the Antichrist.

Chapel implements are few in number and are usually either made or commissioned by the Master or Mistress. If this is not possible, they are instead chosen by them with care. These usually include at least several large silver chalices, a Censor (or incense holders), a quartz tetrahedron, a large silver bowl, and the Sacrificial Knife with a wooden handle. These implements are either kept on the altar if it is large enough, or wrapped in black cloth and kept in an oak chest.

No one is allowed into the Chapel unless they are dressed in ceremonial robes and barefoot. The robes are generally black with a hood, although some rituals require the use of other colors. An antechamber is used by members to change into the ceremonial robes, when possible.

Altars: The indoor chapel always has a stationary altar, made from of either stone or wood, usually set facing eastward, and being of sufficient size for an individual to lie upon it. It is often bloodstained, and covered by an altar cloth made of good quality material and colored black. Upon this is woven either an inverted pentagram, the septenary sigil or the personal insignia of the Cult Leader or cult if there is one. Candleholders, made of either silver or gold, are placed on the altar, one at either end. Black candles are usually the most employed although some rituals require the use of other colors. Other candle-holders are usually placed around the Chapel, since the only light used in the Chapel both during rituals and at other times should come from candles. The cult's holy book (see below) is usually placed in a prominent position, on an oak stand on the altar is most common.

Above the altar or behind it is an demonic image or sculpture, though an ornate chair or throne is also common, left empty in case "Lucifer" himself deigns to arrive to accept the sacrifice personally.

If an outdoor location must be used, the area is typically marked out by a circle of stones. The purpose of the outdoor altar is usually the body of one of the participants - naked or robed depending on the ritual and the prevailing conditions. The one chosen for this purpose lies on an altar cloth, black in color and woven with an inverted pentagram, the size of this cloth being not less than seven feet by three. Candles are usually be placed in lanterns which open on one side only, this side being of glass which is often coloured red. The participants should know the area well, since they should not use any artificial light of any kind including candles, to guide them to the chosen site. Neither are any fires be lit during any

ritual. For this reason the night of the full moon is often chosen.

Both indoor Chapels and outdoor areas chosen for rituals are always consecrated according to the rite of Chapel consecration. When any ritual of magick is undertaken, no attempt is ever made in any way to banish the magickal forces - what forces or energies remain following a ritual are to remain, since they dedicate the area or Chapel still further to the powers of Lucifer.

Motivations and Viewpoints:

Any Luciferian cult is typically Lawful evil in nature. Any deals or pacts both within their ranks and with non-members are honored to the letter, if not the spirit.

Rituals and Variations

Rites are conducted either in an indoor Chapel or in an isolated outdoor locality during the hours of darkness.

The Black Mass:

Spells:

Curse: Disfigurement

The victim believes he or she has been terribly disfigured on the level of Quasimoto or Frankenstein or Freddy Krueger. The victims thinks that his or her P.B. is only 1D6. Though to others the victim looks perfectly fine, whenever he sees his reflection, he truly sees a misshapen or deformed monster. Worse, he behaves and dresses in response to his disfigurement, which means he or she may cover his/her face and/or body, try to avoid contact with other people and behave as if he is hideous in appearance. (“Please, don’t be afraid.”) This often means the character doesn’t care about maintaining any aspect of his appearance, and is likely to wear concealing clothes, lets the clothing get filthy and torn, doesn’t care about fashion or style, wears a hood or mask, and so on. This false perception also affects his M.A. (reduce by half) and his M.E. (-1D4). Over time, the cursed soul may shun people and become a hermit or incredibly shy and secretive.

Curse: Sexual Obsession

The victim, male or female, becomes ridden by a desire which he or she can't comprehend, much less control, falling prey to an incandescent passion which can be directed toward any person the cult leader desires. The lust slave is infatuated with that person, at the mercy of the object of his affection’s commands. The victim can only think about the person 24/7; the mental image staying in their head all the time regardless of day or night. The targeted person will become desperate if a day is missed without seeing the person. Even he/she will unable to take rest, eat properly, concentrate on official work, sleep properly or attend to anyone else. The need for that person is so unbearably potent that the obsessed person becomes a slave, incapable of denying anything to the object of his or her desire, eager to please that person at any cost, particularly in the case of amorous desires. Indeed, the person can barely restrain themselves in this fashion. The person will be incapable of having any desire other than for the caster, and must obey their commands even to the death. It should be noted that true love is not imposed on the victim; merely sexual obsession akin to an addiction. Even if the person has reason or cause to hate or despise the caster, they find it nearly impossible to resist their commands or refuse any of their demands no matter how demeaning.

Summon and Command the Lieutenants of Hell:

This is usually dramatic, like a small Gate tears open or the ground splits open just before the entity steps out.

The Moloch, like all Servitors, will always obey the cult’s leader unless given an order that contradicts what its true master (Caspian) hopes to achieve. In such an instance, the order will be questioned or reinterpreted. Only one entity can be summoned and commanded at a time. A new one cannot be called forth until the first one has been seen or sent back. They may be sent on a mission of torture, murder, destruction, and war. They are often dispatched to bring back the head of a traitor or betrayer, as well as enforce a pact, claim a first born, and (literally) sever a relationship with a servant that has broken a pact.

Caspian, of course, can see or hear whatever the Moloch does, and may chose to speak through it to give the mindless entity a personality. In this case, the Moloch may end up functioning as a “handler” of the cult leader rather than the servant, manipulating him as necessary, and often without him ever realizing it. If the cult leader should consider rebellion or deliberately disobeying the commands of his master, the Moloch may be sent to slay the cult leader and any others who follow him.

Weapons and Equipment - The "Devil's" Arsenal

Caspian supplies such cults with authentic-looking weapons and artifacts imbued with enchantments to complete the illusion. Bogus rituals are typically included to "enchant" the weapon or item in question, when in fact the weapon has already been imbued. This maintains the delusion that the cultist in question has some power.

Among these items include:

Kavan more frequently uses the Satanic motif in his standard cults of worship.
