Artifact, The Ledger

Appearance:

Most are surprised by how unassuming the ledger is, far from being the massive and majestic tome described in legends. Instead, it appears to be a rather ordinary, small Prewar notebook, with a black cover, less than 100 white pages. There is an dark red elastic closure that can act as a bookmark and keep loose notes secure. 8.9 x 11.9 inches and about half an inch thick. The pages are bound between a pair of plain, black metal covers. There is no title on it. The pages are white. The book, while of high quality and professional-looking, is so thin and ordinary looking, it is frequently overlooked, even when it is sitting out in plain sight. Gathered with other books or magazines, the Ledger is easy to overlook and lost among larger, thicker volumes. When one is searching for the greatest source of knowledge in the cosmos, nobody looks for a thin book but rather a 10,000+ page dictionary-style monstrosity with a gaudy cover, plastered in gems and radiating with magic energy. That's another surprise, until the book is opened, there is no outward indication of its potential. It dosen't even register as magical, because it is not. It is the product of transcendent science, not magick, as one would suspect.

Being so thin and lightweight, the Ledger can fit into most places without damaging it. This makes it easy to hide and transport.

Description:

The Ledger is said to be an inventory of everything in the God-King's possession (and by extension everything in the cosmos), everything from worlds and nations down to the individual grains of rice in the vast fields in agricultural fields at the further corners of farflung empire.

It is also rumored that one can make 'edits' to it. Adding new possessions, people, countries to the book if one so desires. One may also transfer ownership of them. As well as delete them from existence.
