Rode 125cc motorcycle (Honda CB125) to Lagos to get visas to Tchad (Chad) and Cameroon on 18 November 1964 (13-hour trip each way)

Stayed over in Fort Lamy, Chad to get visa to Central African Republic on 23 December 1964

Bielefeld, Germany, 1965-66, while in practical training for pipe organ building with Detlef Kleuker Orgalbau. I built and installed organs in Berlin-Heiligensee , Düsseldorf, Dortmund, and Neuss, among others.
Mount Rainier National Park, 1970, camped, hiked, and climbed 72 days with Carol that summer and '75-'80.
White Mountains of New Hampshire, 1971 - 1973, led guided hikes. Took too many photos of tiny wild flowers.
Bicycle trip across Massachusetts in 1974 to promote a bike trail project for the Bicentennial celebration.
Surveyed visitors to Hart's Pass in the North Cascades while staying in a Forest Service cabin 1976. Helped a Basque shepherd, his dog, and 2400 sheep graze safely on the green.
