My latilla vendor offered to fetch and plant 8 trees. Thursday he and his wife dug the holes for the trees, which you can see along the berm in the upper left photo. After he dug the holes and left I removed the rocks from the excavated soil. The digging was easy because the berm had been built only last November so was not packed hard.On Monday he will dig the trees from the forest and bring them to plant. He advised me to get some special rooting fertilizer and water the new trees every couple of weeks. I may splurge and get another moisture meter to be sure they don’t dry out (or get too soggy).
They also brought the remaining latillas that I needed to finish the screen coyote fence in front of the utilities. At right is a photo of the finished fence showing the electric transformer box (and a bit of the neighbor’s garage). This photo does not show the three communications boxes that are well hidden by the fence, but it does show the electric meter on the left, which is not hidden. I have two sources of gravel for my paths: pea gravel which we had surplus in a pile across the street, and crusher fines from an abandoned path (that we accidentally mis-routed). I hauled a barrow-load of pea gravel to re-route my front entry, then two loads of crusher fines for the path to my house and to the community barn. This gave me some exercise yesterday.Today Eli (the builder) comes to adjust the door to the south patio. I only started using this door when the weather warmed. I also have the recent issue of Fine Homebuilding for him.
