Balloon festival this morning. So I got up at 4:45, went to the church kitchen, picked up 4 gallons of coffee, a bunch of breakfast burritos, brownies, and cookies, and set up a food booth. But it rained the night before, so they moved the action across and down the street. So we moved, too. By 10:30 I was tired and ready to leave. No, we didn’t sell much, but there was not much activity, either. Tomorrow will be busier and we will arrive an hour later so as not to wait for the action to start.Prep trim around the bath, closet, and laundry doors for painting. That means mostly sanding, but also setting one nail and dusting the surfaces. I primed the wood before it was installed. Fortunately the trim in most of the areas is the same color as the walls so there are no tricky edges to paint.
Paint picture molding so Jake and Uli can put it up under the ceiling. The molding does a nice job of delineating the boundary between ceiling and wall. Cutting and installing it goes quite quickly.Prep slate tile for grouting by sealing with (linseed, I think) oil. That means Monday we can grout the slate tile floors of the mud room and porch.
The slate is a bit thicker than the cork flooring, so Lalo used mortar to slightly raise the level of the concrete floor around the arc of slate tile just inside the front door so there will be no change in elevation.
Order grout at $340. Wow, this stuff we have chosen for the glass tile in the shower is expensive! About 20 times more costly than the regular grout. It is supposedly made with tiny glass beads so that it seems translucent like the tile itself.
