I was not very busy yesterday. But while I was gone the crew built more internal walls, and these were complicated. The photo shows the stacked headers (horizontal supports over doors) that will support the roof trusses and the mechanical room. This is complicated because the mechanical room wall sits above a pocket door, and that does not allow for any supporting studs. In the other direction the architect designed a book (or more likely art) shelf above the adjacent door into the living room, so that needed a header above the shelf space.
To increase the complication, the third wall that intersects at this point is filled with vertical air ducts, leaving room for studs between the ducts but no plate on the floor beneath these studs.
While I was away from the building site I was visiting with neighbors from 50 years ago — when I lived in Nigeria. I had taken photos and audio recording during their wedding in Arochukwu, which a friend transcribed onto CD for their anniversary party in Leeds, UK last Autumn. It was good to see them, especially since they made a trip all the way from England.
