No, there is no mural in the bathroom. But the ceiling has been painted. Two coats, including the edges. And the bit of wall (just above the sink and toilet) has one coat. So now it is possible to see all the colors in the house. I’ll try to get over this afternoon to apply the second coat of paint to the walls so we can install the light fixtures, but no promises.
My other house project for today is to complete the weatherproofing of the planks that will form the sun shades over my south-facing windows. I stained the visible parts (bottom edge and outer faces) yesterday, but want to put clear oil on the other parts today. I may not get the chance because the weather bugs predict a 39% chance of precipitation all afternoon. We did have a squall yesterday, so I’ll just have to see. Of course, that doesn't exclude painting the bathroom!
Why not promise? Because this is the weekend of the Wool Festival, which fills Kit Carson Park with wooly vendor tents. All the vendors must relate to wool. Most seem to come from Colorado. There is everything from shish kebobs to live sheep and Angora rabbits, spinning equipment, raw fleeces, carded wool, yarn, wool garments, to felted hats and dresses.
The judged champion was a most amazing felted dress, made all in one piece, containing lace, beads, with natural-dyed sections. We happened to be looking at the exhibit when the artists were collecting their works and met the creator, who was wearing another felt dress of similar design and construction. She says it takes her about a week each. I am fascinated because the technique is about as opposite to my garment techniques (sewing Thai silk fabric with appliqué) as I can imagine.
