The weatherman said ‘no rain’ today, so we prepared the roof insulation. It sprinkled a bit during dinner - but I figure that would dry off by 9am, as the roof deck did this morning. However, it is raining more right now, and I fear the roofers will not want to glue rubber to insulation with damp insulation — even though the glue is water-based.I spent a couple of hours inserting 300-400 screws (only about half the total) to hold down the insulation (see photo). Hot work on my knees this afternoon. The weatherman promised us dry weather today through Saturday, so I scheduled the roofers to come tomorrow. Of course we had a couple of showers (one very light) this evening. I hope the insulation dries before they are ready. The roof glue is water-based, so it should not matter, but they can be fussy. I may end up with a roof but no warrantee.
The plumbers laid the sewer lines in the trenches that we dug yesterday, so that is finished. They also connected all the water lines at the fixture ends. It may or not be ready for inspection! (I’m not sure whether the water heaters have to be ready or not, at inspection time.) Ray the plumber also installed the roof drain so that it will be ready for the roofers tomorrow. It is critical to get the drain low enough so that water does not puddle around it. It took him a couple of tries to get the drain pan low enough — first with thinner insulation, then with 2” (nominal) boards, finally with 1” (nominal) boards. I left before he did, so we’ll see in the morning.
Yesterday I shot a ‘walk through’ video of the interior of the house.
