I added some photos to yesterday’s blog entry. Today the electricians came and installed the ceiling fixtures. That is, except for the two I forgot to order after we added them to the plans. So tomorrow we should have light in most areas, which will make it easier to work. The added fixtures will take about a week to arrive. (They were backordered initially, but should be in stock now.)In addition to my short-order of fixtures, I ordered fluorescent tubes for five fixtures that already came with them and I ordered LED lamps for 10 fixtures that came with halogen lamps. I learned something today: MR-16 is the name for bi-pin reflector lamps that use 12 Volts, while GU10 is the name for the same bi-pin lamps that use 120 or 240 Volts. So the LED lamps that I ordered only work on 12 Volts. Sigh. At least they were quite inexpensive — less so than the correct lamps that I ordered. I will have three sets of bulbs that will fit in the fixtures, but one set will burn out immediately on 120 Volts so I’ll try to resell them.
We had four workers in the bathroom this afternoon, making it very crowded. You need to use your imagination to see all four in the photo, but one person only partially shows in the left rear. He was cleaning the face of the tile preparing for grout. We ran out of the special mortar required for glass tile. It is sticky (unlike regular thin-set mortar which relies on the rough back of ceramic or porcelain tile to adhere) and only available from Albuquerque. Looks like we all do something else tomorrow. Jake will spend most of this week preparing the door frames and windows for stain. That means cleaning the raw wood, caulking, and taping. We plan to paint the doors and trim tomorrow. Only one person can run the spray gun, but we can shuttle material in and out of the garage and barn. I spent today sanding and removing dust from the trim pieces.
