I got an Email from Santa Fe Heritage Doors just before noon today (Wednesday). So I drove the four hours (the door shop is on the southern edge of Santa Fe; Taos is north of Santa Fe) to Santa Fe and back this afternoon to pick up my front door, which was custom made. I hope it meets expectations, which were costly! The door fit nicely in the back of my minivan, after I removed the middle seat. It had to ride on the passenger seat for the return voyage, securely buckled in to keep the seat belt alarm from driving me nuts.
The door arrives just in time. After we put it in place we need to waterproof around it, then insulate and install the carved lintel above the door, waterproof around the lintel, then secure the house wrap around door and lintel, and finally install the metal lath for the plaster. That will take most of the day. The plasterers come tomorrow. They have a couple of days of work, so they can leave the front door until last.
