So today I dug a lot of holes to plant shrubs. Twenty, to be precise.
But when I went to the best nursery in town to buy the shrubs that my landscaper had recommended, only one of the three species was available and the other two were not even on order.
So I planted the creeping western sand cherry on the berms. They should tolerate this dry climate and eventually spread ten feet to cover the berms.
I also dug holes for the Arctic Fire dogwood, and ordered that over the Internet because the nursery only had larger varieties.
The Serviceberry (which bears edible fruit) will get bigger, and I can order them as bare root plants. Those holes are farther from the house. Because they come in lots of four (and I want five), I have offered my neighbors to go in for a larger order.
Neither the holes nor the dormant sand cherry are very photogenic, so no pictures today. If you want visuals, click on the links above. :)
