Thanks for the pretty stamps. I have no trouble finding avid stamp collectors here; there are four or five in the firm who are most happy to get the fancy commemoratives stamps you send.
I ordered a few more slides from England which came last week—completing my slide story of English Church architecture. I copied (during the trip) chunks out of a book to explain the various facets.
I also bought some more books about half-timbered houses—two with just pictures and one with detailed descriptions and drawings of houses in Franken and Hessen. Also ordered a book on old timber houses in England. When I’ve studied a bit on carpentry (the houses are jointed, not nailed, together) I should be able to design and build my own.
Did I tell you that I could buy an oak desk and chair, new, large and carved (61" long) made by an excellent local man for $250-400? Is that a good investment, considering that the craftsmanship is absolutely first class?
Last week and next we are in Düsseldorf again. I never finished the wiring there and we had no pipes before this. We probably have 1 1/2 weeks more in D, then two days in Neuss. The slider motors are of a new design and came from the factory not properly adjusted (which we didn’t know) so we have to take them all out (45) and replace some which have become noisy or stick.
We just saw an outstanding movie called “Grieche sucht Griechin” or “Greek seeks wife”, Excellent photography and very amusing story.
