My Honda broke a piston but I was able to drive it 250 miles home from Onitsha, stopping in Enugu to greet the new volunteers and show them how to ride and service Honda motorcycles. My engine is on the floor before me partly dismantled. Some of the bolts are being very stubborn and I can’t separate the block from the crankcase. The mechanics are so bad that I decided to repair it myself.
In Onitsha I gave a talk before the Science Teachers’ Association of Nigeria on the CHEMStudy program which I am teaching. They want to have a 6-week course on it run by NSF to learn more about it.
The new crop of volunteers is half girls. Three are located on my route to Enugu and one is our nearest neighbor (only 25 miles by mud track). The new neighbor is good looking and very intelligent.
Meanwhile the frogs are deafeningly loud tonight.
