The crew has been working for a week on the cabinet doors. The upper ones in the mud room finally were installed today. The lower doors should be installed tomorrow. That will mean we can clear the woodworking equipment and sawhorse-tables out of the garage, along with the left-over and cutoff pieces. That may also mean the end of fine dust everywhere. I’ll probably have to clean the furnace filters, which are distributed across 14 floor registers and are a special size. I cut them myself the first time, but may order them professionally made next time.
The electricians worked most of today on the outdoor lighting. My test at 6am failed, but as of this evening the front motion sensor worked and the outdoor outlet came on with the light (as it is supposed to). The back lights worked with the wall switch but not with the back motion sensor. I’ll have to plug something into the back outlet to test it, but it looks like the motion sensor is not wired correctly in back. All this took a long time and pulling more wires through the wall, even today. I loaned the electricians my telephone wire tracer, which helped, and insisted that they label every wire in each of the six junction boxes. I also drew a wiring diagram for them.
Ule has installed the last of the ‘confetti’ tiles above the backsplash and will probably grout all this tomorrow. It looks really fancy, as it should. The added tile arrived sooner than any of us thought it would, pleasing me.
I started to build the control for the garage air handling fan. I don’t want it sucking cold air under the slab when the garage door opens. Also discussed with the heating contractor how we could shut the furnace fan off at night. That is not part of the thermostat program, but we found a way to install a digital timer that could turn the fan and ERV off at night.
Oh, yes. Friday (while I was in the hospital) the inspector passed us on the occupancy inspection. He didn’t have the right form in his pickup, so we don’t have the Certificate of Occupancy, yet. However, Tuesday I set up my bed. Big milestone. We also whittled a couple more items off the punch list while the electricians were making up for my lack of clear requirements.
